Five years from now?
Please join us for a casual conversation about your dreams and aspirations for our Christ Church community.  We will talk about what we learned from our WOW cards and then turn toward the future, asking, " Imagine it is five years from now ..."

How would you like to see us grow?
What do we do currently that you would like to do more of?
What new things should we be doing?
How would you like to see us change?
What should not change?
Who are you going to invite to join us?

Please join us at 7PM on Monday, June 13 in the Lea Room for light refreshments and the start of this Holy conversation.  Shay Craig is reachable for questions at [email protected] or 312-751-3576.

"May the Living Christ Be with You,"
has just been Published

When Ned Prevost, our past Rector retired, the parish commissioned Richard to compose a choral anthem in honor of his ministry. Our choir has sung it several times, most recently on a weekend trip to Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin in 2014.

The anthem has just been published and now is visible on a number of online music websites. Click here to listen to the demo recording   (performed at a slower tempo than marked in the score, but beautifully conducted and sung.)

Please do not hesitate to "Like" the webpage if you wish!

Early Celts were animists, believing that everything in nature had a spirit. They often had rituals in sacred spaces outdoors that were holy to them.  When Christianity was introduced into the culture, the idea of a church building as a holy place was easily adapted because they already had those-simply without the building.  The earliest Celtic monasteries were built in those places the Celts already recognized as sacred. Other parts of animism, like oneness with nature, also carried over into their new faith. Legend says that Saint Kevin of Glendalough, Ireland was praying with his arms outstretched while standing in a river. A sparrow began nesting in Saint Kevin's hand. He stayed in that same position for months on end as the sparrow laid and hatched her eggs.

In response as to why she didn't go to Sunday School in the summer, Charlotte McGee's parents always told her that God goes to the Catskills for the summer.  So does Episcopal 101!  We'll return in September.  In the meantime, we encourage everyone to find their inner Celt this summer in travel, in family & friends, and in time outside-especially at our glorious park services.

Save Your Grand Receipts Year Round
To date, your generosity has raised more than $750 for our youth mission team, just by turning in your Grand receipts.  The program is so successful and so easy and The Grand is so wonderful that we will continue this fundraiser indefinitely.  Please continue to bring your receipts to the office on Maple St. or to church with you on Sunday.  We will even have a collection can available at the park services!  Your receipts are creating a terrific scholarship fund for our youth mission trip-present and future.
