New Foundation President

The Board of Directors of the United Methodist Foundation is pleased to announce its selection of Reverend Chris Walters as its President effective July 1, 2016.

Chris is an Ordained Elder in Northern Illinois Conference, and since 2011 is under appointment at Plainfield UMC. He has been an active member of the Foundation's Board of Directors since 2012.  Learn More
  
Chris brings diverse experience both in pastoral leadership and from the private sector in corporate information technology.  
Reverend Walters earned a Master of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary  and a Master of Theology from Northern Baptist Seminary.

Chris is married to Reverend Doctor Eun-Hye Choi, lead pastor of Plainfield UMC. Their son Tim will enter the sixth grade this fall.

Board Chair Linnea Kooistra shared her perspective of Chris as "a strong leader for the future of the Foundation.  He is confident, knowledgeable about the United Methodist Church, and he is passionate about shepherding local churches by inspiring and encouraging churches, pastors and their members to healthy stewardship of their financial abundance."

The Board has been in dialogue with Bishop Sally Dyck throughout the search process, and the Bishop and Cabinet are affirming and supportive of Chris' new role within the annual conference.
