 Alert #12: FY2016
6/10/16

ALERT SUMMARY:

1.  PURVIEW:  State (not federal)

2.  LEVEL OF MOBILIZATION:  staff, students, volunteers

3.  TIMELINE:  Urgent and Immediate

5 MINUTES = $1.7 MILLION!

-  The Massachusetts House of Representatives FY17 budget funds ABE at $29,318,547.  The FY17 budget passed by the Massachusetts Senate funds ABE at $31,024,866 -- a difference of   $1,706,319.

-  Our only chance to protect the higher funding amount is to mobilize as many people as possible to call their Representatives and Senators and ask them to  urge their House and Senate colleagues on the Joint Conference Committee to keep the Senate's higher level of funding.

Rep. Koczera (D-New Bedford) is asking other members of the House of Representatives to sign onto his letter urging the House members of the Joint Conference Committee to keep the Senate's higher budget figure for ABE. Let's help him get as many signatures as possible!
PLEASE TAKE 5 MINUTES TO MAKE CALLS YOUR SENATOR AND REPRESENTATIVE!

-  We know this is a terribly busy time of year for all program directors, and we wouldn't ask you to add another task to your list if it didn't mean a lot -- there's $1.7 million at stake for ABE!

-  Please take 5 minutes to make your calls now
and ask colleagues, students, volunteers and others who support ABE to do the same.

Check the list below to see if your Senator or Representative is a member of the Joint Conference Committee.

If your Senator or Representative is on the Joint Conference
Committee, urge him/her to keep the Senate's funding level of $31.02 million for ABE line item #7035-0002.

-  If your Representative is not on the Joint Conference Committee, please urge him/her to do 2 things:

1.  Sign on to Rep. Koczera's letter that is being sent to the House members of the Joint Conference Committee.

2.  Directly urge House colleagues on the Joint Conference Committee to keep the Senate's funding level for ABE.

-  If your Senator is not on the Joint Conference Committee, please urge him/her to urge Senate colleagues on the Joint Conference Committee to keep the Senate's funding level for ABE.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THESE CALLS AND PLEASE REMEMBER TO THANK YOUR LEGISLATORS!
