BISHOP'S VISIT

Bishop Jamison J. Hardy and

The Rev. Ronald S. Rieger

Bishop Jamison J. Hardy had the pleasure of visiting Trinity Lutheran Church in Scarsdale, NY on Saturday and Sunday, June 4-5, 2016. The Rev. Ronald S. Rieger has been serving there since March of 2015. Bishop Hardy enjoyed his visit and commented about the members of Trinity as being "great people!"

MISSION EXECUTIVE'S VISIT
The Rev. J. Derek Mathers and
T he Rev. RIchard Klein
The Rev. J. Derek Mathers, Assistant to the Bishop and Mission Executive, worshipped with God's people at St. John Lutheran Gemanicus, Golden Lake, ON Canada on Sunday, June 5, 2016. The Rev. Richard Klein is pastor of the congregation.

The members of St. John's gave a warm welcome to Rev. Mathers and he was very thankful for the invitation to join them in worship.

Rev. Klein's family and Rev. Mathers' family first met in northwest Ontario at Aurora Lutheran Bible Camp, near Thunder Bay, ON, while Rev. Mathers was still attending the seminary.

The members of St. John's Pembroke, ON, Canada shared God's love by inviting members of their sister congregation, St. John's, Germanicus, to share in the fun of a congregation picnic. The event was held at Shady Nook Community Centre just outside Pembroke, ON. Although it was raining outside, the children still had fun as the games were held indoors. There was a lot to eat and the congregation presented Rev. Alles with a birthday cake and they sang "Happy Birthday" in his honor. It was a great afternoon with lots of games and singing.

CHURCH AND SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
End of year fun

Hales Corners Lutheran School students in Hales Corners, WI, collectively reached their Accelerated Reader goal of 12,000 points for the entire school year. The reward was creating a human ice cream sundae, so all gathered to watch the top point earners cover Mrs. B with ice cream!
A big heart

Miss Stathakis' second graders at Hales Corners Lutheran School wanted to end their morning brain break by making a big heart. They requested that the photos be posted to Facebook so that people remember that they are truly loved by our Savior. Not only did it appear on Facebook, the Servant to Servant editors chose to make note of this special event in this week's edition.
Love your neighbor

Basic items make an impact
The Church Workers in Mission Task Force commends Deaconess Jeri Morrison from Lutheran Church of the Risen Savior in Green Valley, AZ, who helped collect and ship 50 pounds of personal hygiene items as part of the LWML English District's Gifts from the Heart ingathering at their convention in Philadelphia, PA in April. Altogether, two carts of hygiene kit items were donated to Orphan Grain Train by convention attendees. What a wonderful example of how to help make a direct impact on the lives of those in need.
Picnic celebrates those who serve

On May 22, almost 50 men, women and children took the opportunity to celebrate Armed Forces Sunday with an indoor picnic in the Social Hall of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg, PA. Hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and salads were on the menu. Operation Barnabas committee members as well as many others created a festive atmosphere to recognize those who currently serve our country in the Reserves, National Guard and Active military. May God bless and keep them safe as they perform their duties.
