EPICentre and the Alumni Association host Toronto event
EPICentre and the University of Windsor Alumni Association held an alumni event at Arcadian Loft in Toronto on Thursday, June 2nd. The focus of the event was geared towards innovation and entrepreneurship. A panel of young entrepreneurs from the University of Windsor provided insights into the startup scene as well as their own businesses. The event was also an opportunity to build awareness about the EPICentre and provide opportunities for alumni to get involved.

Meet one of our newest incubator members: EatDrinX. Co-founded by Matt Guignard and Pramod Mendonca, EatDrinX is a mobile application that provides specials, features, menus and events based on the users geolocation for local restaurants and bars. Restaurants can showcase their food and drink offerings to customers and consumers benefit because they can easily find the best deals for food and drink on any given day.

Faculty Fellows Profile: Dr. Jill Urbanic
Dr. Jill Urbanic is a University of Windsor professor in the Faculty of Engineering where she teaches courses such as Manufacturing Process Design, Advanced Manufacturing and the Capstone Design course for Industrial and Mechanical Engineers. She became involved with EPICentre through the Faculty Fellows Program through collaboration efforts with Dr. Francine Schlosser from the Odette School of Business.

Canada's Music Incubator's Artist Manager Bootcamp to visit Windsor-Essex
Canada's Music Incubator is partnering with the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corp and Small Business Centre to host the Artist Manager Bootcamp. The boot camp will be FREE and run Saturday, June 25 (9am-6pm) and Sunday, June 26 (9am-3pm) with the objective of providing customized, hands-on and high-level mentorship to a maximum of 15 pre-selected music artist managers, self-managed artists or transitioning industry professionals.

World Vision and MaRS launch Social Innovation Challenge
Young minds are brilliant minds. That's why MaRS Centre for Impact Investing has teamed up with World Vision and Grand Challenges Canada to launch an entrepreneurship competition for students and recent graduates. The World Vision Social Innovation Challenge aims to find young people with a business idea that could tackle some of the world's most difficult development challenges and help them make it a reality.
The competition will award up to $35,000 in seed funding for the winning team, together with a year of support and advisory services to market test their concept.

Patterns for Success Challenge: Help Small Businesses Succeed
HeroX is reaching out to innovators around the world to help small businesses succeed by developing a unique set of tools that will provide guidance and development assistance to the entrepreneurial community. This initiative is called the
Patterns for Success Challenge! Each tool is a simple module grouped into three categories: Strategy, Leadership and Culture.
Prize:
The total prize purse for this competition is USD $25,000. In addition to monetary prizes, winners shall receive tremendous exposure for their submissions.
