Purpose: Develop impact varsity baseball players through innovative training, weekly development workshops, and game day experience

The "ABC Rewind" highlight video for last week (Mon 5/30-Thurs 6/2) has been posted on the ABC .com  website under Explore ABC for your review. The weekly Rewind will serve several purposes two of which are provide a "look-in" as well as create accountability that we are delivering on our purpose statement.

Did you know?  Weekly workouts at the Austin Baseball Club are not your typical "Team" practice sessions. Each workout is carefully planned in advance
to create an innovative curriculum that incorporates elements you would expect (and hopefully get) when you attend a private lesson. These videos are designed to provide you a "look in" at the ABC Difference. ABC works hard to break-the-mold of a traditional team practice session by leveraging the expertise and skill set of multiple professional coaches in attendance (not just individual head/assnt coaches).  Teams/players are broken down into small groups where we can deliver expert instruction, using innovative drills to achieve max reps and develop muscle memory. At this stage of your ball players career, he knows "how to play"; it's time to become a better "baseball player".

Data points related to this weeks "Rewind" video:
  • Swingtherapy session: "high tee" drill to emphasize staying on top of the ball; "jump back smash" drill emphasing body control while reversing momentum from back to front through the ball; tire drill isolates the upper half (taking lower half out of swing) and helps develope swing path through the ball instead of "around" the ball; front side toss works on hitting line drives while adjusting to hard/soft, up/down, in/out pitches.
  • Arm Care: thera bands drills working muscles in front of shoulder (facing away from wall) and backside of shoulder (faciling wall); rotator cuff health.
  • Pitchers workshop: pitchers work in tandum using a clip board with sheet containing a charted sequence. Each pitch has a purpose; each pitch is recorded/graded; this format provides direction and purpose for the pitchers and allows coaches to provide hands on instruction. Have a plan & purpose.
  • Team field practice: active/dynamic warm up using drills that incporporate change of direction, balance, agility and explosion. 10 min long toss/throwing dynamics session; creative drills that focus on agility, change of direction and body control (partner "circle drill" shown in video); team fundamental drill (bunt coverages) executed in the oufield grass becasue infield dirt was too wet; bull pen sessions throwing live to catcher with pitching coach present to provide feedback and direction (nice curve ball Pusateri).
