Dimbola Museum & Galleries, Isle of Wight, England, is hosting a photographic portrait exhibition,
Lotte Meitner-Graf Portraits: Lotte Meets Julia, until July 10, and it includes a photograph of our very own Natasha Cooper! Isn't she darling?
In 1863, Julia Margaret Cameron began her career at age 48 after her daughter gave her a camera for a birthday present. In the 1920's, Lotte Graf started her 50-year career in a studio in Vienna, later moving to London.
Although the photographers were a century apart, they had much in common. According to the Museum's Web site, they both photographed people who were celebrities of the period, including distinguished writers, scientists, actors and musicians. Both these portrait photographers were considered unconventional and uncompromising and left a legacy of images to celebrate.
