Pivot Workshop December 11

Learn how to get the most out of Pivot, a digital tool that enables researchers to discover the best funding opportunities and to effectively collaborate with colleagues. Designed for faculty, staff and grad students, Pivot combines the most comprehensive, well-maintained databases of funding opportunities and scholar profiles available. It uses powerful and intuitive tools to link scholars with funding. An expert trainer will conduct a Pivot workshop Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. on Cook Campus (the morning workshop on Busch is full). Health Care Delivery Innovation Idea-thon Generates Novel Concepts

Novel technology-enabled concepts for improving health care delivery for vulnerable New Jersey populations and reducing health care costs emerged during last month's Health Care Delivery Innovation Idea-thon, a competition sponsored by Rutgers and the Nicholson Foundation. Each winning team in phase one earned $5,000 and mentoring by health care experts. The competition drew 14 entries, including a device for early detection of glaucoma and a technology that any adult could use to easily track her or his personal health data. During the next phase of the challenge, all existing Idea-thon teams and new teams are invited to further develop their concepts into a working prototype. The competition is open to teams of Rutgers medical, graduate and undergrads, as well as faculty and clinicians. Three finalists will be invited to present at the award ceremony next April when one team will earn a $50,000 award to support a year-long effort to test, refine and implement the technology. NIH Shared Instrumentation Grant Announcement

NIH is expected to announce its 2015 Shared Instrumentation Grant Program (SIG) early next year and it is critical to begin advance planning. From our recent discussions with NIH officials, it appears that the program due date likely will be shifted from March to May, which we will announce as soon as it is established. The SIG program encourages applications from groups of NIH-supported investigators to purchase or upgrade a single item of expensive, specialized, commercially available instrumentation or an integrated system in the $100,000 to $600,000 price range. Rutgers takes an active role in planning and supporting core facilities on our campuses. Read more here.

Cayuse 424 Decommissioning

As of December 1, the Cayuse 424 proposal submission system will be decommissioned. This is part of the broader effort to implement its replacement, the Research Administration and Proposal Submission System (RAPSS). Based on the Huron Consulting Group's Click Portal Solution, RAPSS will be rolled out in phases beginning this spring. We're working hard to ensure that RAPSS will be up and running as planned to bring its functionality to all of Rutgers. Read more here. Please contact your grant specialist or Christopher Stastny with any questions about the Cayuse decommissioning.
