Creative Quarterly, the respected journal of art, photography and design, has included the work of recent Converse College graduate, Sam Smith `14. The latest issue features Smith's work as part of the the New Talent Gallery showcasing the next generation of artists and designers.   Converse College is proud to have Smith and associate professor of art, Andrew Blanchard recognized in this internationally acclaimed publication.


Rick Mulkey's Poetry Collection to Launch with Spartanburg Reading


Poet Rick Mulkey, director of the Converse College Creative Writing MFA program, along with his literary friends, will read from his newest collection of poems at Hub City Bookshop. The launch event will take place Thursday, Aug. 28 from 7 - 8 p.m. In addition to Mulkey, Upstate authors and artists Angela Kelly, Tom Johnson, Claire Bateman, Scott Robbins and Susan Tekulve will read a favorite selection from Ravenous: New & Selected Poems.

This class concentrates on the last three months of pregnancy. Key elements of this class include: ways to reduce anxiety, pain management options, stages of labor, pushing, delivery methods and postpartum care. We will assist you in understanding the process of labor and delivery and answer questions about the birth of your child. Classes are taught by Certified Childbirth Educators.

Are you a little nervous about caring for your newborn's basic needs? This class will give you insight into what to expect when you see your precious newborn for the first time. You will learn about diapering, bathing, feeding and symptoms that indicate when your baby may be ill. Circumcision and umbilical cord care will also be discussed.
