Toy Room 2014 - A New Record!

There is something special about communities coming together to bring a happy holiday to neighbours and new friends.

Our 2014 Toy Room program has come to an end, and we reached a new record for the number of women and children accessing the program.

Over the course of 11 days, we were able to provide 1,094 women and 2,224 children with gifts this year. That is a 33% increase from 2013!

Thank you so much to our donors and volunteers. This program would not have been possible without your generous support.

Many families are struggling to find child care. Others worry about the quality of care they have. We would love to hear your story about how Calgary's child care situation is impacting you and your family. How are you coping? Which supports do you wish you had? How would your life be different if you had these supports? Please contact Rhoda at  [email protected]
Agents of Change
Looking for a new home in 2015? We've recently partnered with Agents of Change. Use their service to find a socially-conscious real estate agent and a portion of the commission will go to the Women's Centre.

Engaging the Community

Community building has always been an important part of the way we work at the Women's Centre.
Over the course of five months, we door-knocked, ran articles in community newsletters, gave presentations, met with community members, and hosted various events. We asked hundreds of women what they wanted to see at the Centre and what they were experiencing in the community. To read about what we learned and the next steps, check out the project write-up.

For the first time ever, we are running a Girl Power Camp from March 23-27. All girls between the ages of 10-12 who have not previously attended Girl Power Camp are welcome! The camp is free. Lunches, snacks, transit tickets and supplies are all included.
