ILC Dover Survival Suit Protected Record-Setting Stratosphere Jumper

 

For ILC Dover, space isn't always the final frontier. Sometimes it's just the upper atmosphere. The Kent County-based company recently built a one-of-a-kind ensemble that protected pilot and skydiver Alan Eustace on an Oct. 24 excursion that took him up to 135,908 feet, or almost 26 miles, above the New Mexico desert.

Scott Safety Hosts Annual National Junior Firefighter Academy


Scott Safety, a global manufacturer of respiratory and personal protective equipment and safety devices, announced the successful completion of the fourth annual National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) National Junior Firefighter Academy.

You make decisions about the need for eye and face PPE and the types of PPE to purchase based on a hazard assessment. OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.132(d) says employers must carry out an assessment to determine whether hazards that necessitate the use of eye and face protection are present or are likely to be present before they assign PPE to employees.

Fastenal CEO Announces Resignation


Willard D. Oberton will resign from his position as CEO of the Fastenal Company, Winona, MN, effective Dec. 31, 2014. Fastenal's board of directors named Leland J. Hein Jr. as Oberton's successor, effective Jan. 1, 2015. Hein will also continue in his role as president.

How to Buy Non-Firefighting PPE

 

First-responders often find themselves in situations where they need a level of protection for which their structural firefighting personal protective equipment ensemble is not operationally effective nor cost efficient. The structural firefighting PPE is not a universal solution to protection challenges
