Episcopal Church 101
Want to learn more about the Episcopal Church? What "Episcopal" means? Why we worship the way we do? The story of our tradition? Then come and be part of Episcopal Church 101, a chance to learn the basics of the story, beliefs, and practices of the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion. This class is led by our interim Rector, Jeff Fishwick, and utilizes the book Your Faith, Your Life. Starts Thursday, October 16, 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Register now at CCE Online

Reading Program for Elementary School
teacher-girl-reading.jpg

We are looking for volunteers for our Reading Program at George Mason Elementary School. Christ Church is in relationship with this underserved school as part of Richmond Hill's Micah Initiative. Will you help spend about an hour reading to 1st grade students to help improve their reading skills?

This program is ideal for anyone who wants to make a difference in the lives of children and wants to maintain a flexible volunteer schedule. The program will be offered from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Learn more and sign up now.

Men's Breakfast
We've already started our Impolite Conversations by talking about how we think we should manage our money versus how Jesus thinks we should manage it. We'll be impolite again on October 18 at 8:00 AM by talking about sex.

Sexuality is a vital part of the adult human experience, and gets discussed endlessly through every possible media except in our churches. So, we're going to change that by examining how God calls us to handle this aspect of our private lives. Will Watkins is an attorney and long-time Christ Church member who is passionate about helping men on their journey with Christ, and he'll lead the discussion on this topic. Register now.

Sessions with Thessalonians
Sessions with Thessalonians will be held over 5 weeks and provide a compelling preview to Paul's letters to the Thessalonian Christians. Through our reflection on Paul's words, we can see that his counsel to the Thessalonians in the midst of their confusion remains invaluable words for believers today who live in a world that is just as chaotic.

Paul's tools for navigation for the first-century Christians prove to lead us safe and true as well.  Meets Tuesday of every week from 7:00-8:30 PM beginning October 28 through November 25. Sign up now

The Christmas Conspiracy
Have you found yourself furiously baking cookies at midnight? Attempting to untangle Christmas lights with exasperation? Does your Christmas season involve copious amounts of caffeine and sugar just to help you get through the enormous to-do list? Often, even the thought of the Christmas season induces stress in women.

Join women of all ages for the Women's Retreat November 7-8 as we invite one another into keeping a holy, imperfect and simple Advent and Christmas season.  Learn more and register now at CCE Online. Registration deadline is October 19.

Sharing Our Faith

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small;
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.

"Last Sunday, dogs, cats, and their people romped on our lawn while they waited to be blessed as a 'brother or sister' of St. Francis. As the musicians were packing up, a family  came across the parking lot from the neighborhood next to our church. The children were excited and with voices of anticipation asked if it was too late to get their pets blessed. I had just been thinking about how we had no unusual critters this year -- and here they were with a husky guinea pig and a fledgling dragon. Assuring them that it was never too late to bless an animal, we proceeded. This family does not attend CCE, but they are members of our community. I was blessed by their participation and they were blessed with the love that Jesus has for all of creation."
