"If elected, the focus of my efforts as the ATCA Board's East Regional Director will be to foster an environment where our most valuable asset - our people - can grow into the leaders we need to successfully execute the transformation of our industry."

Dear ATCA East Region Members,

Let me begin by saying that it is an honor to be nominated for the Board of an association which, after almost 60 years, remains the most highly regarded and relevant organization of its kind in the world.

I attended my first ATCA meeting in 1997 and was immediately enthralled by ATCA's mission and the leadership role it plays in our industry. I published my first paper in its 1998 proceedings and my first article in The Journal of Air Traffic Control in 2001. I was impressed at the organization's willingness to embrace ideas from a new voice and it is important to me that we carry this legacy to the next generation of aviation professionals.

Today's leaders have done an outstanding job laying the groundwork for NextGen and initiating its complex implementation. To continue this amazing transformation and be successful in this new world of aviation, our next generation of leaders must be prepared to overcome its challenges. The time is now to tap their knowledge, enthusiasm, and entrepreneurial spirit.

ATCA is in a unique position to help identify and guide these future leaders. The association can help ensure the success of NextGen by providing a forum that enables tomorrow's leaders to start taking ownership of the future today, instead of waiting until they inherit it down the road.

ATCA has been dedicated to ensuring the well-being of the air traffic control profession, advancing the aviation industry, and developing and disseminating knowledge for years. I see myself as a bridge between today's ATCA members and the young professionals who will lead aviation for the next 30 years. As the East Regional Director on ATCA's Board of Directors, I will continue ATCA's important mission and work to create an environment that helps grow the leaders we need to manage the imminent transformation of our industry. I hope I can count on your vote.

Thank you for your consideration.
