Notes from Sunday's Sermon
"ALIENATION, DESPERATION, RECONCILIATION, AND CELEBRATION" ( Luke 15:11-24)

Jesus' parable of the Lost Son begins with a situation that is common today. A child couldn't get along with his father. The young man was headstrong and selfish. He was bored with life at home. He chafed under parental authority and longed to be free. Even though his father was kind and understanding, this bullheaded son dreamed of better things in distant places.

We have not grasped the meaning of this parable until we see ourselves in the stubborn, selfish, indulgent, runaway son. We are all the time slipping away from our heavenly Father and our home in his will. We alienate ourselves from God by our sin, and while it seems to bring us temporary thrills, it is really a dead end.

But, if we let the Holy Spirit lead us back to our heavenly Father in tearful repentance and unwavering trust in his forgiving love, based on the atoning death and victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ for our sake, then we can experience the peace of divine reconciliation and the rapture of ecstatic celebration!

A Mission-Driven Church

Our Mission...
The Memorial Tabernacle Church has come together by the Holy Spirit for the specific purpose of preaching and teaching the word of God, (the Bible), and about Jesus Christ, God's son, and to proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom of God to the North Oakland Community and its environs; to bring healing to the brokenhearted and deliverance to the oppressed.

STUDY
Tuesday is normally our Shepherd's Bible Study, but there will be no class this week, and it will resume Tuesday, June 28.  Many who attend Bible class will be celebrating the life of Deacon Siller Tuesday. Come show your love and support for Rev. Deloise Siller  and Family,

PRAY Come together as we pray for healing in our land, in our country, in our cities, in our families. Join us Thursday mornings at 6AM.
  • Charleston - One year ago this past week 9 people were massacred in a church.
  • Orlando - Last week over 50 people were massacred, young singer was executed, and young boys life was stripped away.
  • Oakland - Killing of teenage girl at the vigil for 2 teenage boys, displacement and homelessness on the rise all for the love of money along with dysfunction and corruption in our city government, especially our police department whose acting police chief stepped down...3rd one in a week.
"..if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." -  2 Chronicles 7:14

WORSHIP
