CCTS TL1 mentor Dr. Jayme Locke, now director of the UAB Incompatible Kidney Transplant Program and Transplant Analytics, Informatics & Quality, will play a key role in national efforts to increase access to and reduce wait time for kidney donations, as announced by the White House at this week's Organ Donation Summit. African-Americans face a significantly higher incidence of end-stage renal disease and disproportionately low rates of live donor transplantation. The Living Donor Navigation Program, which she will oversee, is associated with a fivefold increase in ID of potential live donor candidates. More
