for Traditional Worship at 9:30am and/or Informal Worship at 11:00am when our scriptures will be
Psalm 42 and Luke 8:26-39 with a sermon entitled It Depends on Your View. The Gospel lesson is a complex story of Jesus, a possessed person, a herd of pigs and a community. Something happens to and around all of them. Sorting out the meaning depends on your vantage point. What will happen next for this community? How do our unique angles and perspectives effect what we believe and do?

Pride Fest St Louis - the weekend of Sunday, June 26
"To foster an understanding of and equality for the LGBTQ community in the general population by raising awareness through educational programs and events ultimately leading up to the annual PrideFest in St. Louis."
Our Gateway ONA UCC churches have had a strong presence at Pride for several years. We need help Staffing the Tent -
volunteers are needed! To register for a 2 hour shift, please contact Ron Hill by phone at 314-968-1286 or by email at: [email protected]. When you contact Ron, he needs your name, church, email address and cell phone number.
Our goal is to have eight people present for each two hour shift - so you won't be alone! Here is the schedule:

We are hoping for lots of participation in the Parade on Sunday at noon again this year too. We will gather at First Congregational Church of St. Louis (on Wydown). We hope to be a large colorful representation of our United Church of Christ. Tuesday Evening Dialogue (TED) June 28
2nd & 4th Tuesdays | 6:00-8:30pm | Heritage I
nstead of a book, we will work through a list of questions that the Confirmands have learned in their classes. Three of us did this at AE and didn't finish all of them. It reminds us of questions like: How many books are in the Bible to theological questions. We will try this for one night and see how we like it and how far we get. Come and see how much you remember of your own confirmation and how your own theology has changed over the years.
This is a new format: there is no assigned reading and no book to buy. Just come.
Parkway UCC Night at the Muny

Join us at the Muny to see the classic musical Fiddler on the Roof. Winner of 9 Tony Awards and one of the longest running shows ever on Broadway, Fiddler tells the story of a Russian peasant family trying to negotiate love, differences, persecution and traditions in an uncertain time. Tickets are discounted from regular price to $10.50 each.

Summer Music During the summer months when the choir does not sing, we invite members, both adults and youth, to provide special instrumental or vocal music for the 9:30 service. If you would like to share your musical gifts with us over the summer, please speak with Barbara Raedeke or contact her at [email protected]. We are blessed with many musically talented members here at Parkway, and we hope they will make this important contribution to our worship!
Our Business is Mission. How's Business?
Over the past few months Church Council, Tuesday Evening Dialogue (TED) and others at PUCC have read John Dorhauer's book Beyond Resistance: The Institutional Church Meets the Postmodern World. We have read it, prayed on it, and have discussed its implications to Parkway. And, we have discovered in our discussions the need to KEEP talking about how we as a congregation will ensure our church remains relevant in a postmodern culture.
In the late summer/early fall all Parkway members and friends are asked to continue this important discussion. Over the summer we ask you to read Dorhauer's Beyond Resistance to reach your own opinions. Books will be available for purchase in the church office, along with a few loaners from Council or TED participants! For those unable to read the book-fear not! A synopsis will be available as background at the June 5th congregational meeting and on-line.
Whether you have read the book or not-starting mid-August a series of one session, small group gatherings will be held in homes, at the coffee shop, at church to hear your thoughts and ideas.
How do you describe
the identity of PUCC? What changes are possible and necessary for PUCC in the postmodern culture? What are we not willing to change? What change can we accept? What is the future mission of PUCC? How do you talk about PUCC to others? What three words best describe PUCC's mission?
We hope that many, many of you will participate in these discussions of our identity and our mission.
