Glendale Road Sewer Spill

June 17, 2016

Folks,

Both the DNR and the Garrett County Department of Public Utilities have issued notifications of a sewer spill on Glendale Road.  Following is the text of the notification from the County:

As a result of the recent heavy rains a section of culvert pipe under the Glendale Road spur washed out causing a break in a 6-inch sewer line. The spill was reported on June 17, 2016 at approximately noon and was repaired by 2:30 p.m.
The break resulted in approximately 6,000 gallons of sewage to be discharged into an unnamed tributary that flows into Deep Creek Lake at Glendale Cove.
The Garrett County Health Department, DNR and Maryland Department of Environment were notified. Water sample were taken and the water is being monitored by the Health Department.
Notices were posted from Glendale Cove to Arrowhead Cove and DNR placed buoy markers in the area.

Cheers,
