Chamber Kicks Off Regional Technology Initiative
at Rock Hill Event
In addition to the exciting news about the city's growth and its evolution as a knowledge-based community at the Rock Hill Area Council's
State-of-the-Community Breakfast, the event was the launching pad for the Chamber's technology initiative. Regional Chamber Board Chair,
Harvey Hawkins of
South State Bank, announced that the consortium would function as an ongoing collaborative forum that would bring together representatives from technology-focused companies, as well as educational institutions, governmental entities, and other key members of the Chamber and York County community. He noted that a primary goal of the Consortium is to generate valuable new ideas and insights to enhance our area's growth in the knowledge economy. Chamber Demonstrates Support of Community at Fort Mill's Strawberry Festival
Members of the Chamber's area councils, along with Chamber staff and other volunteers, demonstrated the organization's support of the community at last month's Strawberry Festival.
During the two day event, the Chamber assisted the Town by recruiting 23 volunteers to serve soft drinks to festival-goers. While a majority of the Chamber's commission from the sale of the beverages will support Chamber programs and initiatives, a portion of the funds were donated to the Fort Mill Schools Foundation to promote academic excellence in the Fort Mill and Tega Cay areas.
