Hadasa was born in Lodz, Poland in 1935. After German soldiers entered the city in 1939, Hadasa's father organized a group to escape to Soviet-occupied Poland. Her father found work with a Russian theater company constructing scenery. After Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union, Hadasa's family moved around and eventually returned to Lodz in March of 1945. In 1948 Hadasa's family immigrated to Israel and settled in Jerusalem. After her marriage, Hadasa and her new husband moved to Sao Paolo, Brazil. In 2008 Hadasa and her husband moved to Los Angeles. Her memoir, Waving to the Train is frequently included in the Remember Us Memoir Project at LAMOTH.

You can see artifacts reflecting Hadasa's experiences in our weekly Survivor Speaker micro-exhibit, located near the front desk.

A docent-led tour of the Museum will immediately follow.
