Summertime meant funtime!
My mom went to college for clothing design, so we
always had tons of patterns
and fabrics in the house.
Whatever summer style was new or
hip, we'd tell her what we
wanted and mom would simply sew it!
We had a pool in the backyard and all the kids would
come over and hang out to swim and play Monopoly.
We played softball and kick the can on the street, we
walked or biked everywhere and $1 got us a burger,
soda and fries
at
McDonald's.
Friendly's hot fudge sundaes were 50 cents and when it
got too hot outside, we rolled a few games at Bowl-a-rama
where it was always air-conditioned. There were NO cell
phones, but as long as Mom knew where we were headed and who we were with and we were home in time for
dinner, that's all that mattered!
