Summer Worship Schedule has begun!!!
            Sunday 9:30am      blended style
            Wednesday 6:30pm   informal campfire

Summer is just getting started, but already we are making plans for the fall.  Education is a life long process and one of our goals for Joy Lutheran is to "offer opportunities for Christian Education for all ages." We are still working out the details, but there will likely be a slight shift in the time for the late service, to give us more time for an education hour in between worship services. The primary focus for this time would be on adult education, with the goal of being able to offer two different classes each Sunday.  What would be helpful at this point is knowing what kind of classes you would like to see for Adults.  We would have a variety of classes taught by pastor and others.  There is a sheet of paper in the narthex for you share your ideas. Thank you.

Hotdogs and S'mores at Worship

When you join us for worship on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm we close worship by gathering around the campfire to roast hotdogs and make s'mores.  It is fun and delicious.  Grant money has provided the food, so invite your friends to come join you for a short, informal, interactive, campfire worship, followed by great food.  We meet in the nice shady area on the east side of the church (under the cross tower).

We put the "fun" back in Electronic "Fun"d Transfer

Giving your offering by electronic fund transfer is easy and convenient and a great way to ensure consistent, faithful, regular, first fruits giving.  But if you are like me, I miss being able to put something in the plate as an act of worship.  So we have created laminated "I give electronically" cards for you use at worship.  Just pick one up from the basket at the back of the church and use it like you would use an offering envelope and we will recycle them back to the basket to be used again next week.

If you are not using electronic fund transfer but would like to get started, or would like to modify the amount you give please contact the church office or our bookkeeper, Sue Hood to get you started.

Synod Assembly Highlights

Representing Joy Lutheran at the Synod Assembly last week were Shawn and Mandy Bernick and Pastor Steve.  Carol Peterson was also there as a voting member and Tom Peterson, and Marv and Marcia Lindseth were there as guests.  Carol Peterson was recognized for her years of service (pictured) upon her retirement.

We gathered under the theme "When Pigs Fly...or with God all things are Possible". We had great worship and inspiring speakers.  Among the resolutions passed were: adopting the operational mission plan, new standards for compensation, recognition of Spirit Lutheran as a new congregation of the synod, establishing an LSS Sunday, and authorizing a Synod Capital we are calling "Bold Generosity" ( you will be hearing more about this later).  There were also resolutions addressing climate change, human trafficking, and the doctrine of discovery.  If you would like to see more information check out the bulletin board in the hallway.
