Great Places 2020 is a visionary community development project to transform strategic places in Marion County neighborhoods into dynamic centers of culture, commerce and community, preparing Indianapolis for unprecedented success as it reaches its Bicentennial.

A lot has been happening in Indy's Great Places. Here is a quick look at all the excitement happening in each neighborhood! 
"Key 38th Street corridor poised for renewal" - Indianapolis Business Journal
A prominent Indianapolis developer is pursuing two projects totaling $32 million that would bring a grocery and 200 apartments to a neglected stretch near the highly traveled intersection of 38th and Meridian streets. Click here to read the June 4 article. 
Maple Crossing Business Task Force
Local business owners and members of the City gathered at the MLK Community Center on June 2nd for a Business Task Force meeting. At the event, business owners were able to discuss the topics of crime, resources and developments with Commander Bailey from IMPD, Deb Law from the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, and Jim Rawlinson from the Indy Chamber. The next Business Task Force meeting will take place on Sept. 1 and will focus on results of the surveys filled out by Maple Crossing business owners, sample business association plans, and the formation of a Leadership Task Force.

The River West Patronicity Crowdfunding project is raising funds to build a multi-generational art park where youth and the young at heart can gather to observe and appreciate public art and engage in interactive activities that stimulate their minds. Hawthorne Community Center ribbon cutting June 8
Please join us on Wednesday, June 8 at 11 a.m. at the Hawthorne Community Center for a ribbon cutting and re-opening ceremony. The center has undergone a $3 million renovation including a new roof, expanding and renovating the building and replacing the heating and cooling system.

The community center offers childcare, summer youth activity programs, social and civic gatherings, and hosts a center for working families where people who are economically-challenged get services they need to become employable.
