2016 Trade Conference Wrap Up

Whew! With the 2016 Wisconsin International Trade Conference in the books, I wanted to take a collective deep breath and reflect on the experience. This year's conference was really a collection of events - including breakfast & lunch keynote presentations, the Governor's Export Awards, 7 breakout sessions, exhibitor networking and a networking reception to close out the day.

First, I want to thank the members of the World Trade Association Advisory Board. They served as the conference planning group and were responsible finding great topics and even better speakers. We could not have done it without you! Thank you for all your hard work - I am honored to work with you!

And thanks to each of our speakers & panelists for their preparation and time! Once again, I was impressed with our sponsors and their involvement - which went beyond a financial investment. They recruited attendees, made valuable connections for members and actively support WTA throughout the year.

I also need to thank our volunteers for their time and talent, our numerous partners and individual supporters who really went above and beyond spreading the word about the state's largest conference dedicated to international trade.

We are already planning for next year's conference. Save the date: Thursday, May 11, 2017.

So while it's time to take a breath, we're not slowing down because we know your business isn't either!

WTA Executive Director

"The MMAC Wisconsin International Trade Conference was an outstanding experience and I was fortunate enough to be able to not only represent M.E. Dey & Co. but to spend time with my customers, and meet some new people. Looking forward to next year's event already!

JPMorgan Chase pledges additional $200,000 to M7 Export Development Grant Program

Early this week, JPMorgan Chase announced they are providing an additional $200,000 to the Milwaukee 7 to continue the Export Development Grant Program across the region. The program provides financial assistance to small and medium enterprises, both new to export as well as experienced exporters, to enter into new or grow existing international markets.

"The Milwaukee 7 Export Development Grant Program is a wonderful example of how the Global Cities Initiative can provide value to the regional economy," said Jim Popp, managing director for Chase Middle Market Banking in Wisconsin. "M7 has effectively marketed the program and companies have stepped up enthusiastically to explore or expand their exporting efforts.  Providing additional funds is a win-win for all of us."

In just 6 months, 34 companies have been awarded grants each ranging from $1,250 to $5,000.

The 3rd round of applications are now being accepted through June 30, 2016 and funding is made available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  >>Apply here
