Dear We Are Family/NWSH/Positive Force DC friends,
At top, two young WAF volunteers at bag assembly; just above, wonderful volunteers from Georgetown Day School ferociously attacking the bag assembly beast! :-)

Finally, we also NEED HELP WITH VOLUNTEER GROUPS AND CARS OVER THE SUMMER WHEN WE ARE WITH OUT MOST OF OUR STUDENT VOLUNTEERS--PLEASE COME OUT IF YOU POSSIBLY CAN, AND BRING YOUR FRIENDS OR CO-WORKERS! See more info at bottom...

THIS SUMMER !

URGENT CALL TO OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS:
We are trying to plan ahead as to not run short on volunteers for our SATURDAY deliveries this summer, especially now that we are also delivering fresh produce on Wednesdays!

This is the challenge: our deliveries now reach more than 650 seniors each month. This impressive figure is made possible by extraordinary volunteer support from folks like you--THANK YOU!

However, in the summer we are missing the vast majority of our student volunteers, so need a special effort from you all and any groups you are part of to make sure we can get the much-needed groceries to our seniors on time.

All of you have volunteered in the past... you are the heart of what we do. As such, we are hoping that you all might mobilize your networks to provide a group to come and help on any of the upcoming delivery dates this summer.

1. We need help on June 18th (MCC), June 25th (Kelsey), July 23rd (MCC), July 30th (Kelsey), August 20th (MCC), August 27th (Kelsey), September 17th (MCC) and September 24th (Kelsey).

2. If none of these dates work--I know Saturdays are NOT good for the DCJCC for example--but you could get a group another time, just let me know, OK? You might be able to help assemble the bags so we don't have to do that on the delivery date... a huge, HUGE help!

Just let me know if you and yours can help with any of these dates or any OTHER date that can work for you and your group, OK?

Again, thanks so much for all you've done in the past, and whatever you can do here... it really makes a difference for our seniors!

w/ love, Mark A         wearefamilydc@gmail.com

We Are Family thought for the week:

"
As long as the problems of the poor are not radically resolved by rejecting the absolute autonomy of markets and financial speculation and by attacking the structural causes of inequality, no solution will be found for the world's problems or, for that matter, to any problems. Inequality is the root of social ills. The dignity of each human person and the pursuit of the common good are concerns which ought to shape all economic policies."
