Privet Playlot Online Survey
Astor Alley Rebuild Complete

Dear Neighbor,
As you know from a
prior
newsletter, a new and improved playlot will be installed at Privet Park.
Several proposals were shown at the public meeting, and in order to determine the final design, we're hosting an
online survey
to solicit community input on the playground model that will be installed this fall.
You can cast up to three votes while participating in the online survey, and may vote for each design should you wish. Polling will close June 8th. This is a great opportunity to involve your children in picking the equipment they'll be using.
I'd like to thank RANCH Triangle Association for working in partnership with the Chicago Park District to secure funding for this project through the "Chicago Plays!" program, and to all who attended the public meeting and shared their opinion on how best to improve the playlot. This new playlot will be enjoyed by the children of the 43rd Ward for generations to come.

Astor Alley Rebuild Complete
This complex and difficult project was recently completed after years of inter-agency coordination. This heavily-used alley supports twelve high-rises and over 1000 ward residents and suffered from years of deterioration.
The alley required not only repaving, but rebuilding of utility vaults, and protection of water mains. The new concrete should provide a firm surface for decades into the future. Take a look at these before and after photos to compare:

Lincoln Park Greek Fest
St. George's annual
Greek Fest kicks off its 39th year this
Friday, June 3rd, and runs through the weekend until Sunday, June 5th, outside of the Church, 2701 N. Sheffield. Each day's festivities start at
5 PM and wraps at 11 PM (10 PM Sunday). There will be plenty of Greek specialty foods, drinks, music, dance and crafts to enjoy.

Bring a blanket and join us in LPHS's beautiful Unity Garden, Saturday, June 4th, at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and Monday, June 6th at 4:45 p.m. for a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream by LPHS Drama Majors.
(In the event of inclement weather, the play will be moved indoors). What a great was to introduce your kids to Shakespeare!

Wildflower Walks at the North Pond Nature Sanctuary
The North Pond Nature Sanctuary is offering hour long educational nature walks through Lincoln Park on the first

Annual Student Faculty Art Exhibition
The Old Town Art Center is celebrating its 60th anniversary with the opening reception for the Annual Student Faculty Exhibition on Sunday, June 5th from 2-5 PM at 1763 N North Park Ave. Neil Dixon Smith will perform on guitar, and the work of OTAC instructors Tom Francesconi, Kathleen Newman, Didier Nolet, Joe Taylor and their many talented students will be showcased. The exhibition will run from June 3rd through June 25th.

Operation Help - A - Hero
The 43rd Ward and Operation Help-A- Hero will be collecting basic household items and toiletries throughout the month of June in an effort to help the hundreds of Chicagoland veterans who are homeless. All donations will be delivered to the United State's Department of Veteran's Affairs, who will distribute materials to qualifying veterans
in need of assist
ance. Please drop off donations at the Ward office, 2523 N. Halsted.
