The Daniel and Laura Keller Family Endowment Scholarships is entering its sixth year, and one need not look farther than current beneficiary Mariah Brantley to see the positive effect the scholarship has.

An optimistic and hardworking young woman, Mariah is completing her freshman year at Capital University in Columbus where she is studying nursing.

"I always knew I was going to do something after school, I just didn't know what," Mariah recalls.

While attending James N. Gamble Montessori High School in Westwood, Mariah became involved in the CYC College and Career Success programs. She worked closely with the school's CYC College Advisor, and Mariah admits that, "She's the one that advised me to go to college first."

In fact, Mariah credits the College and Career Success program with many of the successes she has had. Read more

Aiken New Tech wins award for West African school

Anthony Muñoz visited Aiken New Tech High School in North College Hill on May 18 to award students $2,000 in the Anthony Muñoz Foundation 2016 Service Project Challenge.

The students received the first place prize for their service work of building Aiken-Largo School in Largo, a remote village in Sierra Leone, West Africa. CYC's AmeriCorps and Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates team supported the student-led initiative.

To continue assisting Aiken-Largo, Aiken students held their second annual Walk-a-Thon on April 29.

The 3.2-mile walk symbolized the distance Largo children had to walk to school before the new school was constructed in 2015.

Students raised about $5,000 which supported the construction of Aiken-Largo's three-room building, and will provide installation of solar panels this year.
