Dear Aspire Friends,

As the 2015-16 year wraps up at our 38 schools in California and Memphis, there is so much to celebrate across Aspire!  To name just a few...

First and foremost, we will graduate 550 seniors and send them off to their post-secondary opportunities with tremendous pride and optimism!  In California, Aspire Lionel Wilson was named #1 public high school in Oakland by U.S. News & World Report.  We are building a new community in Richmond, California with the relocation of Aspire Richmond Cal Prep and the launch of Aspire Richmond Tech, and we opened a new beautiful campus for our Aspire Antonio Maria Lugo and Aspire Huntington Park Elementary schools in Los Angeles.  In the Central Valley, we are expanding our Aspire Ben Holt campus based on our success in the region and overwhelming demand from Stockton and Lodi families.  In Memphis, we secured our first charter through Shelby County and Aspire East Academy will open as our fourth Tennessee school next year.

And as you may have heard, our acclaimed Aspire Teacher and Principal Residency programs will be spinning off under Heather Kirkpatrick's leadership.  This new organization, Aspire University, will have tremendous impact on teacher and principal training across the nation.

From changes in leadership to receiving our first year of Common Core assessment results, this school year has been a period of pronounced evolution and opportunity.   As always, our team is emerging stronger and more focused, and I am humbled by our commitment to making College for Certain a reality for all of our scholars and families.

Finally, last week, I had the honor of celebrating our nine Aspire Shining Star scholars.  This program honors Aspire seniors who have persevered in their pursuit of a high school degree, while exemplifying Aspire values and a dedication to the larger community.  It was an inspiring afternoon during which we honored the path each of these students has traveled on their way to college, and celebrated the next step of their journeys, which include Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, just to name a few. Please join me in congratulating Karen Arroyo, Rebekah Chavarin, Rodolfo Gallegos, Jorge Avelar-Lopez, Iran Bernal, Elizabeth Nava, Sahar Musaid, Brenda Gutierrez and Nathaly Romero. These amazing scholars are the ultimate reminder of why we evolve, focus, refocus, aim high, and engage our full hearts each and every day.

I encourage you to take the time to view our Shining Stars video and read more about our amazing Shining Stars and their inspiring accomplishments and dreams for the future.

Thank you to everyone for your support and continued dedication to Aspire. Your commitment to our students and communities help make College for Certain a reality, not just for our Shining Stars, but for all Aspire scholars.
