Katrina returned to the Support Kansas City team in March 2016 as an Accounting Specialist. Her 9 years of nonprofit accounting expertise include 7 years at Support Kansas City and 2 years at a local nonprofit. She is skilled in grant tracking and reporting, payables and receivables. Katrina enjoys working with the complexity of nonprofit accounting and working with the variety of clients at SKC.

Shared Spaces Opportunities at El Centro, Inc.
|
|
El Centro, Inc. is located at 650 Minnesota Avenue (corner of 7th and Minnesota) in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Kansas. The two-story building is approximately 24,000 square feet and home to El Centro's administrative and program staff, nine other non-profit organizations and four for-profit companies. The first floor has a board room with seating for 12 to 16, and a conference room with seating (classroom or lecture hall layout) for 25 plus. Off street parking is provided.
We are proud to create synergy within the non-profit community, as we partner with our fellow agencies to provide services to the individuals and families we serve. Even our for-profit tenants do business with El Centro and provide services to our clients.

Kansas Prevention Collaborative (KPC) website. The KPC was created in an effort to integrate and innovate behavioral health prevention efforts. With this in mind, the KPC website is designed to serve as a communication hub for coalitions across the state.

Registration Now Open for the Nonprofit Missouri Advocacy Lab
Nonprofit Missouri has teamed up with the Missouri Foundation for Health to host a series of advocacy workshops for nonprofit organizations across the state. The workshops will focus on three major themes: identifying and developing effective advocacy strategies that fit your mission, identifying advocacy issues and opposition, and building an advocacy action plan.

Nonprofit Research Collaborative
Nonprofit Research Collaborative studies fundraising at nonprofit organizations. They aim to reduce the survey burden on charities by combining originally separate studies into single, planned series. Surveys look at fundraising proceeds trends, different fundraising methods, board engagement in fundraising, capital campaigns, and staffing and budgets for fundraising.

HappyBottoms is Kansas City's Diaper Bank. Their mission is: working with social service agency partners to provide diapers to low-income families while raising awareness of diaper need in our community.
As the only diaper bank in Kansas City, HappyBottoms works with 35 social service agency partners at 47 locations to distribute over 1.6 million diapers per year to 7,800 babies.

Nonprofit Leaders that Build Community through Storytelling
|
|
In April, Support Kansas City convened a panel of expert nonprofit reviewers to select the "Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership" award winners. This is a key part of our annual celebration of nonprofit organizations that show leadership through governance, accountability and transparency. Our event included a panel discussion on the topic of Building Community Through Storytelling: Nonprofits and the Evolving Media Landscape. The award winners, Mattie Rhodes Center, HappyBottoms, and the Kansas City Rose Society are not just nonprofit leaders, they are the leaders that know how to build community through their storytelling efforts.
