Jefferson St. Farmers Market News
The farmers market is a big hit on Jefferson! We are attracting big crowds and more new vendors and food vendors than ever before, enticing people to enjoy the market and downtown longer. The market is on the 300-500 blocks of Jefferson from 5 to 7 PM every Thursday except for June 16, when it will move to the 700-800 blocks for Steamboat Days. A special thanks to Great Western Bank for their support of the market, the volunteers who help with set up and teardown, and to market manager extraordinaire Peg Rosie Levinson.

Outdoor Movies Return to Downtown
Looking for a fun way to spend summer evenings with friends and family? Then grab a lawn chair and head down to the 5 & V - downtown Burlington's outdoor theater! Four great movies will be shown on the side of Drake Hardware and Software at Fifth and Valley Streets this summer. There's no admission for the events, though donations are accepted. The movies will start at dusk, but be sure to come down early for games and activities - and to pick out a choice spot. There will be snack and drink vendors on hand, too.

Save the Date...
...and start putting your team together! The 3rd annual Social Media Scavenger Hunt will be the evening of Friday, July 15. Teams of up to four people will compete for prizes by figuring out the clues to different downtown locations, snapping a selfie, and uploading it to the event Facebook page. Always a fun time, whether you're participating or watching the event unfold in real time at The Washington.

- The new Hopefully Yours building at Seventh and Jefferson not only looks great, but it is ahead of schedule! The store should open at its new location before the end of summer.
- Work on the steeple and tower lighting phase of the Lightscape Project continues. We are looking to hold the lighting celebration in August - stay tuned.
- The Very Vintage Market is being planned on Jefferson for July 16, the Saturday of sidewalk sales. Interested in being a vendor? Information and the online application are at GreaterBurlington.com.
- Congratulations to Wendy Klein of Bella Ragazza, selected as Downtown Partners' entry in Main Street Iowa's statewide Open 4 Business contest. She will give her pitch at the regional competition this month for a chance at $8000 in capital funding and a shot at the final award of an additional $20,000. Wendy recently moved her shop to the first floor of the Schramm Building.
- And don't worry about Bella Ragazza's former space at 517 Jefferson being vacant! Two great new businesses will be opening in the building this summer.
- The Downtown Partners Design Committee is working with the City's parks department on ideas for redoing the landscaping in the 200 block of Jefferson. The six large linden trees create a tremendous amount of debris, shade out the other trees on the block, and are so rootbound in their planters that little will grow underneath them.
