Long before Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, written in the 1300's, folks have been going on pilgrimage. Followers of every religion go as part of their spiritual discipline to sacred sites throughout the world. Why do humans have a history of pilgrimage?  Some seek inspiration, clarity, enlightenment, but mostly, people go to become at peace with themselves.

Places that are pilgrimage destinations have been considered sacred sites for thousands of years. Originally, their energy was identified by powerful natural forces, such as telluric currents running through the Earth. In time, Temples were built at these places as centers capable of amplifying human potential. The paths to get to the ancient energy sites are known around the world as "spirit roads", "fairy paths", or "the way of the stars." Throughout history, people journeyed along these paths in order to become healed, spiritually attuned, more able to raise their consciousness, and to find peace within.


As Joseph Cambell says, "The idea of a sacred place where the walls and laws of the temporal world dissolve to reveal wonder is apparently as old as the human race." These sites are just as alive today with transformative qualities as they were when they were built. Glastonbury in England is one such pilgrimage destination and it has layers of stories connecting it to Celtic mythology, Christianity and the famous legends of Avalon. Its striking geographical setting is an indication that it is a center of spiritual power and healing.

GLASTONBURY
September 7 - 15, 2014
Evidence exists of an alignment across Southern England, linking Glastonbury Tor with the Avebury Stone Circle and numerous Neolithic, Celtic and early Christian holy places. These are sites that we will visit on our September pilgrimage to Glastonbury, England, known as the Heart Chakra of the Earth.
 
Folklore tells of a visit by the young Jesus and also by Joseph of Arimathea, who later returned with the Holy Grail, and then a burial of the sacred object near the enchanted Chalice Well at Glastonbury. Local storytellers will accompany us along our journey to these lands and they will relate the ancient legends to us in meaningful ways. "Another intriguing mystery concerns the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey, once the greatest monastery of Medieval Europe. An analysis of its ground plan reveals proportions of sacred geometry equal to those found in nearby Stonehenge. The Glastonbury region and its abbey also have strong associations with Arthurian legends. At the old abbey, it has been said that monks discovered two graves containing the bones and an inscribed cross identifying the bodies as those of King Arthur and his Queen Guinevere."

We will be visiting these ancient places with private guides that have lived in the area much of their lives, have made films and written books about the legends and the modern day findings at the sacred sites. With a private, sunrise visit to Stonehenge, special ceremonies in the West Kennet Long Barrow, the Goddess Temple in Glastonbury, the labyrinth on the Tor, a few different Holy Wells, and many other amazing places, our journey to ancient Avalon promises to be a life transforming journey.

 

Walk the Sacred Mary/Michael Ley Line
September 2 - 7, 2014
The journey to Avalon will be preceded by an optional 6 day pilgrimage walk along the Mary/Michael Ley Line into Glastonbury. A ley line is a channel of life force energy that distributes itself throughout the landscape, the way acupuncture meridians distribute life force within the human body.

 

The Mary/Michael ley line is such a powerful path that  it is sometimes referred to as a "Dragon Trail." This would be an organically shaped stream of fiery energy full of life-nourishing powers that can be absorbed by all living things, including humans. Pre-Christian pilgrim paths were often located along these lines to gather the earth's creative powers. Ceremony centers and later, churches were situated at special places on these ancient power lines in order to celebrate the spiritual powers of the universe. There are many vortexes of energy where all living beings can become recharged with the primeval potential of life which exists on the powerful ley lines.

If 6 days of walking are too much for you, we are also offering an optional 1 day walk along the Mary/Michael line where we will join the others on the very last day, walking 7 miles along the regenerative pilgrims' path directly into Glastonbury, otherwise known as ancient Avalon. The other option, of course is to join us in Glastonbury on the evening of September 7 for the main part of the journey and spend 8 amazing days together with us as we explore and meditate and celebrate throughout the ancient sacred sites and energies from this part of our heritage.

PROGRESS IN BHUTAN

UPDATE: 

Thank you!! We have been able to collect the first $1,000.00 and send it to the adorable elementary school children in Bhutan. Now they will have lunch for a few months, which will help them to get through the school day without being hungry! I am proud to be a part of such a giving community.

While traveling in Bhutan we asked our guide, Ugyen if we could visit his village. It was way up in a valley, so far away from a town with a hotel that we had to camp out on what was called the school soccer field. In the morning, curled up in our tents, we heard singing. Soon we got up and saw that it was the children, who after walking through the forests from their villages for a couple of hours in the early dawn, were arriving at school.


After breakfast, when we walked over to visit the school, we saw the children weeding the gardens and cleaning the bathrooms. Their teacher and the principal, who rarely see any visitors proudly showed us around and then nearly begged us to please help them with the lunch program which is what motivates the children to come to school each day. When people ask for help, we have learned to do what we can to help them. The story is captured in the short video (below) and was produced by one of the clients of Adventurous Spirit Travel, Sammie (and son, Brodie) and her company called "I am luVd." October 25, 2014 Saturday: Fly to Lima.

 

Peru section of the trip: 

Sunday, Oct 26 - Sunday, Nov 2, 2014.

 

During this time we will explore the ancient Crystal City of Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, with its  95 places of power, the Solar City of Cusco, considered the navel of ancient civilization in the Andes and the sacred Temples in and around all these areas. We will have guided tours, ceremonies, with both private time and meditation time. We will be with the local people and enjoying the breathtaking scenery.

 

November 2, Sunday: Today, you can opt to leave for home by flying out of Cusco, to Lima and home that night. Or you can come on the extension to Lake Titicaca, considered the womb of Mother Earth and the seat of the feminine polarity of the planet.  If you chose to continue with us, we will leave Cusco by bus in the morning, arriving in Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca in the late afternoon, after driving through the High Plateau, called the grandest natural altar on planet Earth. We will stop at wonderful places along the way.

 

Lake Titicaca Extension: Nov 2, Sunday - Nov 7, Friday.

During these days, we will visit the Uros Islands, Taquile Island, the Amaru Portal, Copacabana, The Islands of the Sun and Moon... some of the most sacred places in the Andes. We will spend a few nights out on the islands with the villagers where there is no electricity, just the sacred lake, the mountains and the amazing sky! On Lake Titicaca we will have special ceremonies and fall in love with the energy of the sacred islands.

 

 

November 7, Friday: Today you can leave from Copacabana for the airport in Juliaca, fly to Lima and home that night; or you can continue on to the Tiawanaku extension with us.

 

Nov 7, Friday - Nov 10, Monday: Extension to Tiawanaku.

It is silly to be in Bolivia without visiting the amazing site of Tiawanaku. So we are offering a short extension for those who cannot resist the opportunity. We will stay one night in La Paz, the City of Peace and 2 nights in Tiawanaku, visiting the ancient Temples and even a Holy Spring there. On the Nov 10, we will leave for Juliaca, fly to Lima, then catch the evening flt home.

Beloved Ones,

The world in which you live is a great mirror of the inner world within you.  As you hear the birds singing their springtime songs, you too can "hear" within, the sounds of your own physical being singing in harmony with your spirit. By attuning to this inner voice, the voice of your heart, you can hear its conversations with Angels and all of the Divine. To get to this place of peace, your Spirit asks of you: breathe into your body with consciousness, as if by your breath you are turning on the lights within your house, room by room. With a relaxed and calm approach, allow your breath to calm you and bring you to a place where you can rest quietly within your "house". Then from this place you can hear and feel and know of the friendship of your Spirit and all your Angels and Guides.
