Advanced Learner Plan
This spring, questions have arisen around our course offerings at the secondary level and how those can best be structured to support all learners, including those who are TAG, advanced, or accelerated in some or all subject areas. Staff has been working on a draft plan that will be shared with the School Board at their work session in July (tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 12).

Drinking Water Safety
Several school districts have recently received inquiries about their drinking water and whether or not it has been tested for lead. HSD conducted testing on all of our schools and buildings in 2010 and found no issues with lead (click here to see the report). We are currently working with Hillsboro Water and the Tualatin Valley Water District to conduct comprehensive retesting of all our buildings this summer, and will continue testing on a set rotation schedule each year moving forward.

Hillsboro 2035 Celebration
Hillsboro 2035 is our community visioning plan that outlines how we want the greater Hillsboro area to evolve, expand, and improve over the next twenty years. Join HSD and many other community partners like Tuality Healthcare, SOLVE, Westside Transportation Alliance, and the Hillsboro Chamber as they showcase "Hillsboro Heroes" at the Hillsboro 2035 Celebration on Tuesday, June 14, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Hillsboro.

Cecil Smith of Westlake Village, California, is believed to be the oldest person to have ever earned a GED (General Educational Development).

He dropped out in 1922 when his parents died, made a life for himself as an upholsterer, and then went back to school and earned his GED at age 94.
