NAMI Information, Support & Education 2016 Hall of Fame

Without all of the wonderful people who volunteer as teachers, mentors, facilitators, presenters and trainers, NAMI Signature Programs would not be possible. We want to honor those leaders who make NAMI programs come to life in your communities. At the NAMI Convention each year program leaders who have performed above and beyond expectations with NAMI Signature Programs are recognized by inducting them into the NAMI Information, Support & Education Hall of Fame.

Affiliate Presidents or Executive Directors can nominate volunteers that meet the criteria outlined below. Please send a letter briefly explaining the nomination and verifying the volunteer meets the qualifications to Erik Villalobos at [email protected] no later than Monday, June 6. NAMI California will review nominations and submit them to National by the deadline of Monday, June 13.

Many NAMI volunteers are involved in multiple programs. If you have a volunteer who meets the criteria for Hall of Fame for more than one program, please submit their information for each program in one submission so that we can recognize them correctly.

Ending the Silence In-Person Training June 25-26

NAMI California is excited to announce that we will be hosting our first in-person Ending the Silence Training on June 25 and 26 in Patton. This training is perfect for affiliates that do not already offer the ETS program but are interested in offering it through their affiliate.

Ending the Silence is a 50-minute program designed for high school audiences and is typically presented in the freshman/sophomore health classes during the mental health portion of the curriculum. This transformational program is devoted to giving students an opportunity to learn about mental illness through an informative PowerPoint, short videos, and personal testimony. Through the presentation, students learn symptoms and indicators of mental illness and are given ideas about how to help themselves, friends, or family members who may be in need of support.

If you are interested in participating in the ETS Training, please fill out and submit the ETS application to Erik Villalobos, Education Coordinator, at [email protected] or submit the application by fax to (916) 567-1757. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Erik.

For affiliates that already offer the program, please contact Erik to find out how to participate in the online ETS e-learning training.
