Hello!

This week we have a great pic of our UB Player of the Week, Ms. Jodie Hill all the way out in CA, a video of Gary discussing classic vintage plywood bass neck sets and why they fail, and a sneak peek of the second UB cello!

As always, don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. We love hearing from you!

Jodie Hill and her UB Double Bass
Our UB player of the week is Jodie Hill, pictured here with her UB Professor Deluxe from 2011. This photo was taken during a recent concert at the Famous Belly Up in Solana Beach California. Great pic Jodie, and thanks for sending!

Got a pic or video clip of you and your Upton you'd like to share? Mail it to [email protected] for consideration in an upcoming newsletter!

Why Old Plywood Neck Sets Fail...

In this video, Gary shows an example of why a neck set failed on an American Standard bass. We get calls every week from customers looking for American Standards and Kay basses, and though these instruments have that dawn of rock n' roll "mojo" of being old, they also weren't built to last, and the necks are the Achilles' Heel of these instruments (no pun intended :)

Another UB Cello!

Gary just sent me this pic from Mystic, titled: "Cellos keep popping up here at the bass barn!" This beauty will be coming up to the Boston shop to be along side its brother and both will be available for audition Tues-Sat from 10-6.
