CSCP at 2014 CSTA Annual Conference
Kate Goddard (EdLab Group) and Lynn Reha (Illinois Center for Specialized Professional Support and CSCP mini-grantee) presented to teachers from across the country at the 2014 Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Annual Conference in St. Charles, IL. During the workshop, Kate and Lynn shared current research on how collaboration can strengthen the capacity of organizations and illustrated the effectiveness of collaboration in engaging underrepresented youth in computer science with the SMARTer Boards mini-grant project example. Attendees also had an opportunity to practice their collaboration skills through activities, including Collaboration Networking, where they were invited to think about ways to leverage shared resources in the room.

Computer Science Education Week

Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) is the annual awareness program for computer science education. Organized by the Computing in the Core coalition and Code.org, it is a call to action to raise awareness (particularly in the K-12 environment) about the importance of computer science education and its connection to careers in computing and other fields. December 8-14, 2014
 The Hour of Code campaign aims to demystify computer science for students across the country by taking them through introductory tutorials that can be completed online, on a smartphone, or even unplugged. Code.org will offer online tutorials (available in 30 languages) authored by numerous educational groups and is challenging teachers, parents, and even employers to encourage students of all ages to engage during Computer Science Education Week.

| Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Corner | CSTA 2015 Call for Proposals
 The Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) invites you to participate in the 15th Annual CSTA Conference. This event will be held July 13-14, 2015, in Grapevine, Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth area).
The CSTA 2015 Program Committee seeks proposal submissions related to the practice of teaching and learning computer science and information technology in K-12. This year, the conference is seeking 3-hour workshops and 1-hour sessions, and 20-minute mini-sessions that focus on pedagogy and best teaching practices. The deadline for proposals is midnight on October 6, 2014. Review of proposals will occur shortly thereafter and notification of a decision will be made around November 15, 2014.
Why present at CSTA 2015? The CSTA annual conference is the only CS conference specifically dedicated to meeting the needs of K-12 computer science educators.
