This week in the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin-ELCA

Week of December 14, 2014

We are a church that is deeply rooted--and always being made new.

Our roots are in Scripture, tradition and the Lutheran Confessions, as well as in the vibrant communities and rich histories of our congregations. These roots are an ongoing source of nourishment; they enable us to be a church guided by the Holy Spirit that is both resilient and always being reformed.

Deeply rooted and always being made new

Some folks have an Elf on the Shelf, but at the synod office our "elves" don't have time to sit on a shelf. They are busy filling the toy box for Christmas!

All of the "toys" are ready, so you will find plenty of resources when you click on the links. Thanks for your patience.

Peek into the Missional Toy Box now to find imaginative ways to explore renewal in your congregation.

Up, Up and Away with 'Kiki's Hats'

Talented members from St. John's in Eau Claire showcased their gifts recently when they put on a big community musical called "Kiki's Hats."

In addition to those who shared their musical gifts, several members spent a year knitting and crocheting hats to be used in conjunction with the show. During the performance, held at St. John's, the hats were draped on a huge hydraulic lift and when Kiki sang her song, she went up, up up-delighting the audience of over 300 people.

After the performance, the hats were donated to area charities to help keep out the cold this winter.
