U of A and Mayor promoting home ownership in U of A Neighborhoods - TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

"The Pima Tucson Homebuyer's Solution program is administered through the Industrial Development Authority. with the Assisted Rate Loan, the borrower receives a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage loan together with down payment and closing cost assistance of between 3 and 56 percent of the loan amount. The additional dollars can be used to pay up to 100 percent of the borrower's closing costs.
- There is no first-time homebuyer requirement in this program;
- Income cannot exceed $82,600 for government loans or $89,088 for conventional loans, regardless of household size;
- Minimum credit score of 660;
- Maximum debt-to-income ration of 45 percent;
- No minimum investment is required of the borrower;
- The home must be a primary residence;
- Buyers must attend a homebuyer education course.

GRANT FOR GRANT ROAD HERITAGE PARK LEAPS TO NATIONAL CONSIDERATION!

The Grant Road Coalition-Central Segments consists of five neighborhoods:
SAMOS, Mtn/First, Campbell/Grant, Catalina Vista, and Jefferson Park.
All these neighborhoods are part of the "Central Segments" portion of the Grant Road Project. Jefferson Park is now the most affected. Phase 2 will end at Santa Rita. The Project will return to us in 2021 as Phase 5 and take up where it left off. The road will cut east to Mountain then move diagonally to the north side (SAMOS neighborhood) then keep cutting the north side (Campbell/Grant Neighborhood). Catalina Vista will see changes to its border also.
There will be pieces of land, parcels, left after the road cuts through. The city engineers planned to reconfigure the properties and sell them. The coalition said, "What about a linear park?" and wrote a proposal. Turns out the National Park Service is interested in creating urban parks. Turns out the US Surgeon General wants people to get out and walk and the park service has a new theme "Rx Parks" i.e. give a script for walking instead of drugs.
Many entities converged to write a grant -RTA, PAG, City of Tucson, Banner Health, and the Coalition. Thus the
Tucson Heritage Park and Health Trail
grant application
was born! Notification on May 12 - the "
City of Tucson's Grant application for the National Land and Water Conservation Fund was selected as the top applicant for Arizona State Parks submittal for the federal selection round." Winners at the federal level will be announced in October 2016. See the entire grant at

Banner Health presented their construction schedule for main campus and north campus on May 11 to the representatives of the adjacent neighborhoods. Click here to see the presentation. FRIENDS OF JEFFERSON PARK LOSES PRESIDENT
Laura Lunsford, president of Jefferson Park's non-profit, has accepted a position at North Carolina University. Her leadership, organization, and computer skills will be sorely missed here in Jefferson Park. The move puts her near her family and we wish her well.
NEW AREA 2 REPRESENTATIVE FOR JPNA
At the April meeting, Ricardo Pereyda was named the new representatrive for Area 2 replacing Richard Weeks who moved to Northern Arizona.
JOIN A NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD
The strength of Jefferson Park has always been its people who step up to serve on its boards, committees, to walk doorhangers, to participate in neighborhood clean-ups, help with fundraisers, and to plant trees. Both JPNA and Friends have openings on on their boards and welcome all help. Attend a meeting, listen to the discussions, offer to help on a project, meet some really nice people.

CALLING 911 On A Cell-Phone
Update from Captain Hall
"If you are on a cell phone - E911 (or Enhanced 911) will provide an accurate location, anywhere from 12-25 meters, if the phone is equipped. All newer smart phones have this capability. If it is an older phone or basic flip phone then TPD communications cannot track its location, they have to identify the service provider then contact that provider to try and get a location. All landlines can be tracked. 911 operators are trained to keep the caller on the phone and to elicit as much information as possible".
The 911 operators cannot possibly know every street, house, complex within the city. If the call is important enough to make, the information must be as accurate as possible. -
- The NAME of the complex (apartments/townhomes/condominiums)
- accurate location address accurate description (person/location/vehicle)
- being a Complainant, i.e: providing your contact information, moves you to a higher level. No complainant - level 3 or lower -
- taking your 911 call one step further. If you provide information for a TRESPASSER, LOUD PARTY, SHOTS FIRED/SCREAMING, SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE, having a complainant has more weight, especially if the case goes to court and you are willing to testify.

viewed and
counted in the TPD crime statistics and is no different than a report taken by an Officer.
There are certain reports that you do not want to make online. Those reports include stolen vehicles, license plates, firearms or burglaries. Please remember you can always contact me if you have a question regarding online reporting.

Once again, the Friends of Jefferson Park, Inc. are selling chances on the Jim Click raffle. This year a 2016 Ford Mustang! Twenty-five dollars apiece, or five tickets for $100.00. There were only 4,300 of these cars made. The drawing is December 2016. One hundred percent of the ticket sales benefit the neighborhood projects.
