CancerCon2016: Denver
4/28-5/1
T-Minus a few days and counting until the C4C crew touches down at #DEN for CancerCon2016. Is anyone else as excited as I am?! I can. NOT. wait. to put faces and voices to names, to make new friends, and spend time with some I've been advocating with for a few years and then some.

CancerCon2016 is sure to pack a punch in terms of information to can act on, friendships you can build upon, and resources you can tap into as you live the daily of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

In this issue, learn more about the AYA Movement, Stupid Cancer, and Connect4Cancer and the ties that bind us together.
Stupid Cancer is the largest not for profit comprehensively addressing the needs of young adults affected by cancer "through advocacy, research, support/outreach, awareness, mobile health, and social media."

Now, let's get down to some vital awareness stats re: cancer among young adults:

72K individuals aged 18-39 are diagnosed with some form of cancer every year. These individuals are often faced with limited resources and great needs: physical, emotional, and spiritual.
These individuals are often amidst major life decisions with regard to academics, occupations and livelihood, marriage, and family. Place a cancer diagnosis on top of all the 'normal' stresses, and it will bring you to the fetal position on the cold, hard floor. Trust me, more than a few of the C4C Crew can attest to that visual.

Founded in 1996 by Matthew Zachary, a brain cancer survivor, Stupid Cancer's expressed mission is to build community, improve quality of life, and provide meaningful survivorship.

Their vision: NO SURVIVOR ALONE.

Given that our mission here at C4C is education, research, and advocacy towards CURE, you can appreciate why we were so driven to attend. Please stop by our booth in the Exhibition Hall, have a spot of tea or a cup of Joe with us in the lounge, or rub elbows and talk with any and/or all of us as we will all be in the mix for the entire weekend.

Have a great couple of days, and we'll catch you on the flip side in Denver; safe travels!
