In mainline Protestant and Catholic churches we often have symbols that decorate our worship spaces. These are called Christograms: a combination of initials that make up Christ's name. One of them even looks like a dollar sign with three lines through it, but is actually an overlay of the letters IHS iota-eta-sigma or ΙΗΣ. These are the first three letters in Jesus' name in Latin. This Christogram originated with St. Bernadine of Siena in the 13th century, who used the image to displace or cover pre-existing pagan symbols. [www.newworldencyclopedia.org]

Saving Your Grand Receipts Helps
Support Youth Mission Trip
This is a slam-dunk fundraiser because we all shop at our wonderful local grocery store (some a lot more frequently than others.) The Grand Food Center (Winnetka & Glencoe) has agreed to sponsor our mission trip and you can help! Save all your receipts and place them in the labeled collection cans in the Prevost Cloister, McClain Room, Youth Ministry credenza, and church office. The Grand will give us 3% of all money spent at their store (before taxes). This will be an ongoing endeavor so that we can build a base for scholarships and offset travel costs. We appreciate your support!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank You! We earned $517 in March & April.
