Ron Calhoun, President and CEO of Palmer-Donavin Mfg., has been named Chairman of the Board for the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW) Institute.

NLBMDA Applauds Introduction of Timber Innovation Act
The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) applauds introduction earlier this month of the Timber Innovation Act (S. 2892).
The bill 1) authorizes the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Tall Wood Building Prize Competition annually over the next five years; 2) creates federal grants to support outreach, research and development, and education with the purpose of accelerating the use of wood in tall buildings; and 3) authorizes the USDA to implement a program of education and technical assistance for mass timber applications. Results of 2016 ProSales Top
100 Are In
The results of the ProSales Top 100 Survey are in! The nation's largest pro-oriented construction supply firms saw sales rise 10.2% in 2015 from their year-earlier performance to reach $41.74 billion, while they increased the number of facilities by 9.7% and grew payrolls by 10.5%.
Equally notable is how different this year's list is from the previous one. Four of the top 12 firms and nine out of 100 on last year's list are missing this time because of mergers and acquisitions in 2015. And because most of the acquiring companies are in the top 10 of the ProSales 100, those 10 firms' share of the overall market grew dramatically last year.

Builder Confidence Remains Flat
Builder confidence in the market for newly-built single-family homes remained unchanged in May at a level of 58 on the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo
The
May reading marked the fourth straight month of the HMI standing at an index value of 58. While the HMI remains in positive territory, soft economic data for the start of 2016, combined with persistent supply issues including access to building lots and rising regulatory burdens, are having impacts on the single-family construction market. NAHB continues to forecast solid growth for single-family starts for the rest of 2016 and into 2017 given low interest rates, positive job creation, and a gradual rebuilding of the industry's infrastructure.
