Work Party Thank You
We want to thank all those who braved the elements this weekend to tackle the weeds around the church grounds.  We had fun, got a little wet, made great progress and our campus is looking great for the Bishop's visit on Saturday.
Thank you to Kari Hetcher-Aguila for coordinating the efforts and the following individuals who showed those weeds no mercy:  Marin A., Karen Bombino,
Michela B., Diana Gruscznski, Sue Kelly, Kim Kouba-Miller, Rick LaFrance, Joseph L.,
Sheila Marty, Laura M., Evie Pinkerman, Jim Russell, Andrea Vaught, Zola V.,
Ansel V., Mary Wiseman, and Marilyn Wittenmyer,

With a campus this large, there is always more to do.  If you would like to help out in your free time or have a group who needs a project, contact Steven d'Amelio at sdamelio@stjohnsea.org
Thank you!

Huge thank you to all who made First Communion happen this year! I have to start with our wonderful Father Crispin! Our teachers, Pat Hendrickson and Telia Oines. Our teaching assistants Teresa Willson and Kathryn Chandler. Thanks to principal Bernadette O'Leary who attended all three FHC masses.
Those who helped at mass and reconciliation, including Marilyn Porter. Joanne Jepson for carrying on the tradition of bread making at St John!

Thanks to those who helped with the three(!) receptions: Wilo Dietrich, Senait Tadesse, Arwen R-F, Evie Pinkerman, Jeanne Portelance, Sheri Roach, Kari San Miguel, Anna McCarthy.

Thank you to the 5th grade classes for the lovely cards and the Knights of Columbus for the rosaries.

Thank you to all the ushers, sacristans, and eucharistic ministers who helped the children at mass. Thanks to maintenance for all the set-up support.

And most of all, thank you to the parents -you are your children 's first teachers and we could not do this program without your support!

Meet Ryan Roach
Maintenance
Starting in 1990 and ending 1998, Ryan worked in a supporting role for the maintenance department and completed special projects and needs as assigned by the school administration.  In 1998 he began working in the Extended Day Care program full time while continuing a support role for the parish in maintenance, until 2009 when he transferred over to maintenance for a full time position.  Ryan attended St. John School, playing all CYO sports and graduated in 1988 with the citizenship award. He went on to Blanchet High School, graduated in 1992, then enrolled at North Seattle Community College and earned an Associate of Arts Degree. In his free time he retreats to his house in Central Washington to relax and enjoy the outdoor sports with his family and improve his outdoor photography hobby. Ryan is a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and can be seen filling in as a usher when needed.
Here's a prayer from Thomas Merton's Thoughts in Solitude:

"My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone."

If you have a prayer nugget you'd like to share with the parish, please email Bill Marty, bill@takenroad.com
