Dear Friends
Last night the Modulus Festival opened with inspiring performances at Dances for a Small Stage.  (The perogies were delicious too!)  Your last chance to catch this live music and dance collaboration is tonight and Saturday night.  On Monday, we're at the Roundhouse for two concerts that are getting a lot of media attention.  And then Tuesday and Wednesday we return to Heritage Hall for great music, top-flight musicians, and Music on Main's celebrated casual environment. I'll send out another email Monday.  In the meantime, I hope you'll join us for an evening or two at what is our largest festival ever.
Dave

Did you see the Vancouver Sun on Thursday? They've got five reasons
to check out the 2014 Modulus Festival. Their highlights include Dances for a Small Stage 31 tonight and Saturday night, the Piano and Erhu Project and Vicky Chow performing Surface Image on Monday night, and machines think love and Transfigured Night on Tuesday night. Why not choose a concert right now and guarantee yourself a seat?

The Georgia Straight covers the Modulus Festival for the second week in a row. They talked to Corey Hamm of PEP (The Piano and Erhu Project) about how his partnership with erhu player Nicole Li began, the process of commissioning new works, and the album they'll release Monday at the Roundhouse. Join us to hear the results of their collaboration: a virtuosic and expressive performance of a cross-cultural repertoire that's entirely their own. more info...

It's a big month for pianist Vicky Chow. Her brand new recording of Tristan Perich's Surface Image is Album of the Week at Q2 Music; she's featured on Steve Reich's just-released Nonesuch album alongside Jonny Greenwood; and her Monday, October 27 Modulus performance is the Canadian premiere of Surface Image. If you like music by Reich and Philip Glass, you'll love Vicky's performance at the Roundhouse. more info...
