Cambridge Community Read Finale!
Fredrik Backman, the New York Times bestselling author of A Man Called Ove, is coming to Cambridge Monday, May 16 to sign books and read from this year's selection for the Cambridge Community Read.

International bestselling author Fredrik Backman is headlining the grand finale event of the 2016 Cambridge Community Read, an annual literacy program hosted by the Cambridge Friends of the Library. His novel A Man Called Ove --  selected as this year's Read -- has been a No. 1 bestseller in the author's native Sweden and very popular with area book groups.

Backman is set to arrive in Cambridge on Monday, May 16. A 4 p.m. book signing at Scout & Morgan Books will be followed by a reading, presentation and another book signing at the Cambridge Campus of the Anoka Ramsey Community College at 7 p.m. All Cambridge Community Read events are free and open to everyone.

The Community Read committee is grateful to the author's publisher, Simon & Schuster, for agreeing to send the author to Cambridge for the program's grand finale event. It is a testament to the many readers in the community who have supported the program over the past nine years that it is now recognized by a national publisher.

Books and additional information are available at the Cambridge Public Library, Scout & Morgan Books and the Cambridge Community Read Facebook page.

Senior Fair!
Sarah Hawkins
North 65 Chamber of Commerce held its Senior Fair May 3 in the Cambridge City Center Mall.

Representing East Central Regional Library was Sarah Hawkins, Resource Librarian, who familiarized the many community members in attendance with a variety of ECRL resources, especially highlighting the new Brain Fitness Kits. And they were a hit!

If your community offers similar community events, please contact us and we'd be happy to attend. We're always happy to build partnerships and remind residents what is available to them through their public library.
