A very big thank you to our riders

As we enter November, a month set aside for giving thanks, we would like to recognize you, our riders, for your ongoing support of Boulder B-cycle. As our ridership continues to grow, we would like to recognize the importance of each and every one of you for bringing us to where we are today. Thank you! Have a slice of pie on us.

Lick screen for real pie taste.
It's gluten-free, we promise.

Breaking records left and right

Hopefully we don't sound like a broken record (heyo!), but you've been breaking records left and right! We've recently had both our biggest week and biggest day of trips ever!

If you had told us last year that we would see trip records being broken in mid October, we would have never believed you. Yet, here we are!

Our biggest week of trips ever happened the week of October 13th, with riders taking 1,588 trips

This same week also saw our biggest day ever on October 18th, with riders taking 430 trips!

Thanks, riders! You rock[this entry has exceeded its allotted exclamation point usage and will now terminate]

Check us out on Yelp

You probably know Yelp as a website where overprivileged competitive diners give one-star reviews to fancy restaurants because their food took a whole 20 minutes to come out during the Saturday dinner rush.

What you may not know is that Yelp also allows normal people to look up information on all kinds of businesses. In fact, your old pal Boulder B-cycle has a Yelp page. If you're so inclined, you can find us on Yelp. Click the link above or search Boulder B-cycle.

Happy Yelping!

Membership auto-activation is coming January 1st

For those of you who have registered a Boulder B-cycle annual or semester pass but have not yet taken your first trip, our membership activation schedule is changing.

Up to this point, memberships have remained inactive until riders take their first trip. As of January 1st, 2015, this will change in order to bring our practices in line with what customers have come to expect from membership-based organizations.

Beginning in 2015, annual and semester memberships will become active 30 days after they are registered, or when a rider takes his or her first trip, whichever comes first. Here's what this policy change means for those of you who have not activated your pass:
  • This change in policy will be retroactive, meaning that if you purchased your membership more than 30 days before 1/1/15, it will automatically become active as of January 1st.
  • Once your membership is active, it will expire 365 days later.
    • i.e. if you choose not to activate your membership by taking a trip this year, it will automatically activate on 1/1/2015 and expire on 1/1/2016
  • If you have auto-renewal enabled on your account, your membership will automatically be renewed at full price upon expiration.
    • If you are uncertain whether or not you opted into auto-renewal, you can log into your account at Boulderbcycle.org to view and change your status.
  • If you received your membership through a corporate program, you will need to opt out of auto-renewal if you have not already done so. Please contact your staff coordinator with any questions.
If special circumstances such as an injury or illness have prevented you from using your membership until now, please let us know. We'll be happy to extend your membership to accommodate your needs.

As always, feel free to write or call with any questions.

Expanding access to bike sharing

Boulder B-cycle recently partnered with Boulder Housing Partners (BHP), eGo CarShare and Boulder Food Rescue to expand bike sharing access in the Boulder community. On October 29th, we came together to provide information on bike sharing, car sharing and public transportation to Boulder Housing Partners residents.

Through a federal CMAQ grant, we have been able to provide discounted bike sharing memberships to those BHP residents who need them. Check out photos of the event here.

Check out the Spanish version of our "What is Bike Sharing?" video produced for this program here

In case you missed it, the English version of the video can be found here.

November ridership contest

We don't normally run ridership contests this late in the year, but given how many of you are riding in this fantastic weather, we figured, why not?

This month's prize is a Pro Tune from Boulder Bicycle Works (a $90 value)! This is an extensive top to bottom tune with the addition of a drivetrain cleaning.

We know that many of you have your own bikes in addition to riding B-cycles, so this prize provides a great way to save some dough on your next tune-up.

If you're new to ridership contests, here's how it works: Each ride you take between Monday, 11/17 and Sunday, 11/23 will get you one entry into a drawing for this prize. Get out there and ride!
