I saw a saying the other day as I was pondering the "theme" of this particular newsletter.

"Every summer has a story".

Yep. "That's it", I thought.  And Yes.  This summer definitely has a story.

This summer the story has been about change.  Accepting change; embracing change. Moving on; moving forward.  This summer was about new chapters in our family book of life.

Late spring/early summer my daughter started traveling with her job.  She has spent time in Boston and just outside of Chicago.  She is leaving next week for California. Not sure how much time she will be spending there, but it could be a lot...  :(

My son, her twin brother, graduated with his Masters in Accountancy this past May. He has accepted a job in Dallas and will be moving on in one (excruciatingly short) month. Labor Day Weekend... the (un)official end to

"the summer of change"

 Wow.

But wait!!  It's not all about tears, however!!  We have had a great summer...  the "summer of change" on a DAILY basis, as well.  We never really knew who was a-comin' or a-goin'.  Think revolving door.  "Kids" (20-somethins) coming in & out on a random basis. My kids, "their significant others", friends from out-of-town, buddies from "around the corner". Doesn't matter.  I call them ALL "my kids".  Who is eating dinner here today? What about breakfast? Leftovers - HA!!  Gone! Who needs a bed? pillow? blankie? towel? Every day/weekend was different.  A friend asked me the other day how I liked being an "empty nester".  Hmmm... ??

"the summer of change"

There are good changes on the horizon as well; and I will definitely keep you posted.... ;) ;)  I took a "social media hiatus" over the summer months... but I am coming back!!  We can "chat" via Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and my blog (www.creationsbycathy.net)

So what is YOUR "summer story"...????

CHANGE:

"to make the form, nature, content, future course, etc., of (something) different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone"

I'm excited about the theme of this newsletter being about change...

We will soon be transitioning from summer to fall; a change of seasons.

Kids are heading back to school; a change in routine & family life.

We have all heard of "Christmas in July"; Right?

So how about New Year's Resolutions... in August?

Right.  Bad idea.

OK. This is the PERFECT time of year for this idea. By late summer your planters are starting to look sad & dried out.  Not to mention that you are just plain sick & tired of watering them everyday.  Perfect solution:  Ditch the dead plants & fill with icy cold beverages instead!

IMPORTANT!!  PLEASE READ!!!
OK.  CONFESSION. I did take a "social media hiatus" over the summer. This all started (Quite innocently; and without warning) when I hit a technology wall... A BIG BAD wall.  Had to repair our internet, replace my computer... yada yada yada.  NOT FUN.  Had issues with my phone AT THE SAME TIME.  It (I) was a MESS!!!  Anyway - I still have not been able to retrieve my www.creationsbycathy.net; so if you have sent any messages to that account & wondered why I have not responded... that's why.  I am SO VERY SORRY!  Please feel free to contact me via my personal email [email protected] for now.  I am still trying to resolve this issue, unfortunately!!

Prior to my "hiatus", here are some of the recent posts on my blog "live happy"

joyful scribblings

About a year ago, I stumbled across the blog of a gal named Dawn. "Joyful Scribblings".  I like it...

children are like kites

Morning came early today. And it's Monday. Not just any Monday, though. It's the first Monday of (yet another) brand new chapter in my life...

So I took yesterday's post to heart.  Yes. I'm talking about MY post from yesterday. About being kind; about making a difference.  This is a really big deal to me...
When my kids were little, I always told them that they were not allowed to "hate" people.  You could hate an inanimate object; a "thing", but never a person...
Procrastinating is, by far, one of my favorite pastimes.  I consider it a skill, really. So I saw something on Pinterest the other day that left me feeling inspired...
Creative thinking.  That's what I was thinking about today.  Ya - Pretty much all day. Now I should have been thinking about dusting.  My house really needs it. But there is always time to dust. Later.  Back to the creative thinking...

so many "happies"

Ever get those "blue" kinda days? Well... yesterday was one for me.  Not one thing. Or another.  Just kinda blah...

"50 shades of grey" cooking

Cooking is one of those things that seems, at first, to be pretty black and white.  You either love to cook, or you don't.  However...

OK.  So on we go with "the summer of change".  We all agreed that New Year's Resolutions are a bad idea in August.  Enough said.  However... when it comes to eating healthier, reasons to exercise, getting organized, finding inspiration or enjoying a good "Mocktail" - we could all use a little help here & there.  Right?  So for what it's worth... Enjoy ;)
