Ten students now are certified police officers after graduating from Reinhardt University's Police Academy late last month.  Director Trey Drawdy said the graduation for Class 16-001 was held May 27 at the Falany Performing Arts Center, and there already are 45 applications for Class 16-002 to begin this fall.

Waleska Farmers Market experiences largest opening week ever

The Waleska Farmers Market is a place where people go to buy or sell local, homegrown products and handmade arts and crafts. The Waleska Farmers Market experienced its largest opening week for its seventh season on May 26.

Opening day consisted of 28 vendors bringing traditional and new items, compared to the market's previous average of 15-20 weekly vendors. Campus officially goes tobacco free
The campus of Reinhardt University in Waleska is now tobacco free, as a policy prohibiting all tobacco products went into effect June 1. The policy was introduced by the University's leadership team who wanted to create a safer, healthier campus.

While the tobacco-free policy became effective on June 1, the University started its approach to a tobacco-free campus last fall, according to David Leopard, Vice President for Finance and Administration. ... Read more
RU to offer musical theatre camp for high school students in July

Reinhardt University's School of Performing Arts faculty will host a musical theatre summer camp for rising high school freshmen through recent high school graduates in July.

In its first year, the camp is geared at providing collegiate level training to those interested in the performing arts. The camp, led by music instructor Brian Osborne, will include training in vocals and acting, with a final cabaret performance at the Falany Performing Arts Center. ... Read More
Thrasher returns to pastorate

The Rev. Jordan Thrasher said his good-byes Tuesday as he completed three years of service to Reinhardt. Thrasher is moving on to Creekside United Methodist Church in Cumming where he will serve as associate pastor.

"I'm excited to be the pastor of a church again," Thrasher said. "I will be in a preaching, teaching and in a mission role in a church that is loved by [its members]. It is a wonderful opportunity."

While at Reinhardt, Thrasher led Bible studies and worship services; he also brought community-service based groups to the University like the Red Bus Project. The Red Bus Project came to campus in the early spring with a goal of raising awareness about the global orphan crisis.  ... Read More

Reinhardt University began the renewal process for 2016 football reserved season tickets June 1.
 
A representative from the athletic department will contact persons with reserved seating in 2015 to handle any renewal questions. For the two-week period from June 1 until June 14, the same seats that were reserved by patrons last year will be available to reserve for 2016 at the cost of $75 per seat.
 
Beginning June 15, both reserved season tickets and general admission season tickets will be available to the general public.


To meet the challenge of creating a more vibrant campus, as well as enhance campus and community partnership, Reinhardt is launching the "Light the Hardt" campaign to support the purchase, installation, and maintenance of lights. ... Read More
