New Library Card Policy


In addition to free cards for residents, the library will offer free library cards to anyone who works in Dover or goes to school (K-12) in Dover. If you are an employee of a Dover business, you must provide a pay stub showing your Dover employer's address. Students must show a student ID or other proof of attendance at a Dover school, such as a tuition invoice. In addition we'll need a photo ID with your current address. Students up to age 12 must register with a parent.

 Select Reads 

Coming sometime soon will be a new service for our patrons. This service will allow patrons to sign up for customized newsletter(s) based on what they enjoy reading and favorite authors. We'll have more information as we get it set up.
 
Summer Reading Programs for Teens and Adults

TEENS! Sign-up beginning June 21 for your chance to win amazing prizes including tickets to Canobie Lake Park, Water Country, The Works, Laser Tag at Hilltop Fun Center, Introductory Climbing Lessons at Indoor Ascent, skate time at Red Alert Skate Park, and a Kindle Fire!  The first 50 entrants get to pick a free book and the first 100 entrants get a free pizza from Weeksie's Pizza.

Exercise Your Mind - Read! If you are over 18 you can sign up for the Adult Summer Reading Program which runs June 21st-Aug. 2nd. Read a book, fill out a book review slip online or pick one up at the library and be entered to win weekly prize drawings. If you read 5 or more books, you will be eligible to win the grand prize: a Fitbit Flex!
 
New Museum Pass

Visit the ICA in Boston with our new pass. The Institute of Contemporary Art is located at 25 Harbor Shore Drive on the waterfront in Boston, not too far from the Boston Children's Museum. See their website for more information at icaboston.org. Each pass gives reduced admission for 2 adults ages 18 and older for $5 each. Those aged 17 and under are always free. Multiple passes per day are potentially available.
 

Library Book Group


The Morning Book Group will meet on Thursday June 2nd at 10am to discuss "Garden Spells" by Sarah Addison Allen. The Evening Book Group will meet to discuss "Etta and Otto and Russell and James" by Emma Hooper on Monday June 20th at 6:30pm.

Free Computer Classes

Technology classes and lectures are offered at the library for FREE! Learn Microsoft Excel and Word. Please sign up on our events calendar and read individual class descriptions there as well. We have had several no-shows at the classes, so be considerate of staff time and others on the waiting list and mark the class in your calendar or call 603-516-6050 to cancel at least 24 hours ahead if you won't be able to attend.
 
Second Wednesday Movie Series



The Second Wednesday Movie Series will show
Hail, Caesar (rated PG-13) on Wednesday June 8th at 6:30 pm . This film stars George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum. In this comedy directed by Ethan and Joel Cohen a 1950s Hollywood studio fixer has his hands full when one of the top stars in the studio is kidnapped. Madness ensues.
 
June is National Audiobook Month

Audiobook Sale week of June 13th!

Have you tried listening to audiobooks? They are a fantastic way to get more reading done while commuting, gardening or on driving trips. We have a large selection and more available digitally. You can find suggestions in Audiofile magazine too! We will be having a special audiobook only book sale during the week of June 13th at the Circulation Desk for a discounted rate of $3 per audiobook! Stock up for summer vacations.
Game Night



Monthly Game Night continues on the 3rd Wednesday of the month: June 15th at 6:00pm. Board game fun for all ages! Snacks will be provided too.
Financial Planning After Divorce   

On Monday, June 20th at 7pm

Divorce is hard all by itself, but add the often dramatic changes in household income when divorce happens, and you could really be in financial straits. For those who are recently divorced or planning a divorce, this workshop will help you figure out the financial needs of your new situation and how best to proceed with your financial future. Cookbook Sale


The Library will hold its annual Cookbook only book sale from Monday to Saturday
June 20-25th during regular library hours. Books will be on display at the Adult Circulation Desk. Prices range from   1-3 dollars. Come early for the best selection.
 
 
 
Adult Coloring Session

Are you interested in coloring with other adults? We will offer adult coloring sessions on Saturday mornings in the summer from 10-11am and Tuesdays at 2pm. Bring your own coloring books and pencils or markers to show off what you do, or we will have some here for you to use. We also have some cool bookmarks that can be colored and taken home!
Artist of the Month for May

MindsEye Designs is a vocational program in the creative arts for adults with developmental disabilities at Community Partners. The primary focus is to encourage and explore creativity, acquire new skills, and to support people in their quest to become working artists.
 

 
Free Audiobooks for Teens All Summer Long

Audiobooksync.com is the place to go each week from May 5-Aug 11 to download 2 FREE audiobooks. This a great way to keep "reading" all summer long and titles are suitable for teens and adults. Usually a contemporary novel is paired with a similarly themed classic. Sign up to receive a weekly reminder text to make sure you don't miss out
 
 
Library Hours  


Summer hours start on June 1st. The only change will be on weekends. We be closed on Sundays and we'll close at 1pm on Saturdays during June, July and August.  Happy Summer!
