CAWA Opposes Margin Tax Initiative in NevadaSee the enclosed press release (view) by CAWA. New Employer Compliance Requirements Start July 1 - in CaliforniaCalifornia and federal law requires employers to post and hand out the most current employment notices, even if you only have one employee in California. Not informing employees of their rights in the workplace can result in costly lawsuits and fines.

CAWA Joins Coalition Urging Swift Resolution to West Coast Port Labor Contract NegotiationsThe Association has joined a coalition urging the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) to make every attempt possible to conclude an agreement on a new contract before the current contract expires on June 30. The coalition, organized by the National Retail Federation, represents United States manufacturers, farmers, wholesalers, retailers, distributors and transportation and logistics providers. The PMA operates ports in California, Oregon and Washington that clear 68 percent of all container shipments into the U.S. The ILWU represents 13,600 dock workers on the West Coast.
