If You Are a Federated Insurance Company Client and CAWA Member - Your Preferred Premium Pricing is Gone - You Should Get a Quote More than Ever Now
CAWA has enhanced its relationships with Armstrong & Associates (California), Benefit Resource Group (Nevada) and The Hanna Group (Arizona) to provide its members with quality and competitive property casualty insurance. Markets, such as, Travelers, Allied, Liberty, Am Trust and others will give CAWA members choices in choosing their property casualty carriers.  These insurance partners can now take care of all your business and personal insurance needs in one place! To get a quote from one of our partners, see www.cawa.org. With leadership changes at their headquarters, Federated Insurance has parted ways with other associations and even the GPC - NAPA relationship in recent years.
CAWA Has a New and Improved Website
Working with NetDriven, the Association has launched its new website to  bring easy access and value to its members. See www.cawa.org and let us know what you think of the new website (by sending an email to [email protected]).
Autologue and Digital Performance Representatives Present to CAWA Leaders and Members
Earlier this month, CAWA leaders and members heard technology related presentations and how they should assess these technologies to their own positions and businesses within the aftermarket. CAWA leadership meetings have brought together industry speakers and experts to provide information and training to its members in the new leadership meeting format. The Digital Performance presentation is enclosed (view). The next meeting series is in South San Francisco on September 25-26, 2014. For more information, contact our President & CEO, Rodney Pierini at [email protected] or 800.332.2292, ext. 1.

CAWA Opposes Margin Tax Initiative in Nevada
See the enclosed press release (view) by CAWA.  At the behest of its members in Nevada and based upon action by the Board of Directors, the Association is in opposition. This initiative, if enacted, will have a tremendous negative financial impact on business in the State. CAWA has joined in coalition with other business groups in Nevada to actively oppose the initiative. For more information, contact our Nevada legislative advocate, David Brown at  702.860.8282 or [email protected].
New Employer Compliance Requirements Start July 1 - in California
California and federal law requires employers to post and hand out the most current employment notices, even if you only have one employee in California. Not informing employees of their rights in the workplace can result in costly lawsuits and fines.

There are several changes taking effect July 1, 2014 including:
  • New Minimum Wage - $9.00 per hour - required to post
  • Revised workers compensation pamphlet with new predesignation regulations
  • Updated Paid Family Leave pamphlet with new family definitions

The California Chamber of Commerce provides all employment notices for a fee. For more information visit www.calchamber.com. Recall, as a CAWA member you receive a 10% discount on purchases through the Chamber.

Telematics Position - AutoCare Association and CAWA Position Paper
Probably the hottest and future issue to be examined and debated by the industry. See the enclosed position paper (view) of our respective associations.
CAWA Joins Coalition Urging Swift Resolution to West Coast Port Labor Contract Negotiations
The Association has joined a coalition urging the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) to make every attempt possible to conclude an agreement on a new contract before the current contract expires on June 30. The coalition, organized by the National Retail Federation, represents United States manufacturers, farmers, wholesalers, retailers, distributors and transportation and logistics providers. The PMA operates ports in California, Oregon and Washington that clear 68 percent of all container shipments into the U.S. The ILWU represents 13,600 dock workers on the West Coast. For more information contact our President & CEO, Rodney Pierini at 800.332.2292, ext. 1 or [email protected].
