JUNE 2016

NOTES
FIVE NEW PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Helping entrepreneurs build good companies is the essence of our mission.  We have begun to make investments out of our recently closed $30.75M CincyTech Fund IV, and as a result, we're delighted to be working with the founders of five new startups.

ReadySet Surgical helps hospitals avoid common, costly and preventable surgical delays with inventory management that connects surgical teams, sterile processing departments and medical device vendors.

is solving key technical problems in the number one bariatric procedure (the sleeve gastrectomy) by creating instruments that will help surgeons to standardize their technique to yield predictable results.

Navistone® improves direct marketing productivity by adding the power of intent-recent digital browsing behavior-as a planning variable.

Soundstr 's
music recognition technology creates accountability around the real world usage of music, helping songwriters to receive proper royalties and venues to pay fairer music licenses.

Jersey Watch makes it easier than ever to manage youth sports from signups to season's end, and all communications in between, with free mobile and online tools that connect coaches with parents.

HIREWHEEL BECOMES DATAROLE

A startup company's journey from Point A to Point B is rarely a straight line; a Eureka! moment can lead to an interesting new direction.  Case in point:  Matt Lenahan and Stephen Sperry built HireWheel-- a company to help homeowners find the best contractors-- around data compiled from mountains of municipal building permits from more than 100 cities.  Turns out, that record of improvements made to  properties proved so interesting to businesses like banks and insurance companies, that Lenahan and Sperry have decided to explore that route.  They've created  DataRole as a way for businesses to access their data platform.  The platform can reduce the time it takes to ferret out some of the key information found in home inspections from days to mere seconds.

CONNXUS RAISES $5M SERIES A

We've long been believers in Rod Robinson and his team at ConnXus.  The CincyTech Fund II company connects women-, minority- and veteran-owned small businesses with Fortune 2000 companies, helping those small businesses grow, and those corporations diversify their supply chains.  It's been rewarding to watch ConnXus grow from an idea to a business with a client list that includes McDonald's Corporation and the Coca-Cola Company.

Congratulations to Rod and the team for reaching their latest milestone: a $5M Series A round led by Techstars Ventures, Serious Change LP and Impact America Fund.  The infusion of capital will allow ConnXus to expand its team (currently 21) and its footprint.
