When you first hear the term "summer slide" you probably think of playground equipment or a water slide, but it can also be a dangerous side effect of children who are not actively engaged in learning over the summer months.

Summer slide is the tendency for children to lose some of the academic gains that they achieved during the school year because they aren't reading. However, research has shown that encouraging kids to read just six books, or 20 minutes a day, over the summer can help beat the summer slide!

Kids from birth through grade 12 can attend one of the Book Swap locations below to take home FREE BOOKS! No books? No problem, Book Swaps are open to everyone, no books required!
