"Sunday: A Day of Calling"

Dear Church~

Members of OSLC are invited to join together Sunday at 9:00 am in the CLC to vote to extend a Letter of Call to a person to be our new Senior Pastor.  We will have had the opportunity to meet and greet this person on Saturday at 11:00 - 1:00 pm. This time will be a significant, holy time as we consider the name presented to us by our call committee.  We will pray that God's spirit in Jesus Christ will lead and guide us in this important decision.  Should we extend a Letter of Call to this pastor we pray that this Call will be received with joy and acceptance.

Sunday is also Reformation Sunday. In worship we will consider the call that is extended to us as members of Christ's church. This calling should also be taken very seriously surrounded with prayer and joy. The Scripture for Sunday is our Letter of Call from our loving Lord.  Jesus speaks the words of truth that sets the church free. Free and called to be God's children and the world's brothers and sisters. What a calling for each of us. This is also a significant and holy time in the life of OSLC as we consider and again accept our calling as Christians in a needing world.

On Sunday we celebrate the birthday of the Lutheran Church. We are centuries old but always in need of reforming and renewing.  So too at OSLC at this time we are excited about considering new ways of ministering with a new pastor.

May God bless and keep us as we join together in "A Day of Calling."

See you in Church!

~Pastor Keith Lentz

Girl's Night Out Movie

The next Girl's Night Out Movie Night will be November 7 in the youth room of Our Savior's.  Driving Miss Daisy  will be the movie.  It is set in Georgia and begins in 1948 when Miss Daisy, an older and affluent Jewish woman, is made to understand that she is no longer able to drive a car safely.  Her son hires a black chauffeur for her.  Miss Daisy is resistant to the idea but eventually gives in.  The story shows the relationship between Miss Daisy and her chauffeur grow and develop over the next 25 years.  Bring a friend, enjoy the time of fellowship and some snacks and have a good discussion to bring it all back to our Christian faith.
